Went to exchange my license today and I was told
that my Canadian license is too dirty (it has some minor damage) to
accept!

This was in Ansan. Should I try another agent in Seoul?

Should I express post it back to Canada and get a replacement?

Get a fax from ICBC in Canada stating that it's valid?

GRRRRRR

Go through the wash?

I'd try. I got mine in Suwon, and my licence was a bit of a mess. That was a few years ago though.

Can you do that? Let us know if you find out that's possible. When I lived in the States, my parents did that for their renewal but that was in the '80s.

Good luck with that one.

My UK (Euro) license was in two pieces (credit card style card) when I went to the Gangnam driving license office! And they accepted it without a hitch!!

I had my Korean license 30 minutes later after a quick eye test. Which I cheated on......

Seriously? It was in two pieces?

The plastic has been tearing on mine and the date of my birth is no longer visible. I felt that the woman really just didn't want to do it for me.
I'd try the Kangnam office this Saturday but I don't have any time...

Driver's license services are offered at the Seoul Global Center for Foreigners. It's on the third floor of the Seoul Press Center (exit 4 of City Hall station on the Seoul subway).

I've sent an e-mail to them to see what they say.

Can someone provide directions to the branch in Kangnam?

If I can get out a little early tomorrow then I can run over there and try it before I resort to other means.

I got my Korean license in Kangnam as well. They never checked on my US license (it was revoked due to not carrying insurance; after selling my car why would I?). Anyway, I took the tests and exchanged without a hitch.

Small town Korea looking to ban the foreigner from getting any foothold in their sacred society. Yeah, try the Seoul office or even the new foreigner center.

Maybe try dressing extra well. Like, suit and tie or something.

Why would you cheat on an eye test? I mean like, why would you need to other than being blind and if you're blind do you really want to drive here? Driving in Korea is risky enough, don't you want to actually SEE where you're going?

Anyone from Ontario change a licence over recently?... If I were to bring a G1 or G2 to Korea would I get a full Korean licence?
What about an M1 or M2 (motorcycle learner's permits)?

Due to a childhood accident I have only about 50% vision in my right eye. Left eye is fine. So I can't quite read the chart when asked to cover my left eye with a spoon. So I lowered the spoon just enough so that I could see over the spoon with my left eye.

I believe I can see pretty well. Well enough to drive. My spatial awareness is not affected. I've been driving for 20 years without an accident. So, I'm nowhere near blind.

in terms of replacing/renewing licenses, i've got some info that may help out some americans out there. i recently lost my maine dl, and it turns out that you can replace or renew your license over the internet very easily. all you have to do is resubmit your information, pay a small fee ($5 for replacing, $40 for renewal), and your good to go. my folks received my new license in 9 business days. sorry i couldn't be of more help to the other nationalities with license problems, but maybe similar measures are in place in canada, the uk, etc.? link below:

He'll only cause an accident anyway. Stopping at a red light, slowing down for a pedestrian and confusing other drivers by using indicators instead of hazard lights.
