I saw a story about a guy in Wales who won a million dollars but continues to work at McDonald's. Would you keep working if you won a million bucks?

EDIT: The guy won just over 2 million, quit his job, but then went back. He works there now and he won the money 18 months ago.

No way. I'd be delighted to quit work for good.

I have an extremely high boredom threshold. Basically, I love doing nothing.

If you had a million dollars you could live off the monthly interest and have enough money left to turn one of your hobbies into a career. You would certainly not see me working in McDonald's after winning a million dollars, let alone my current job.

I'd find some sort of constructive work to do, but I sure as hell wouldn't be teaching ESL.

I'd keep working....eFl and other pursuits.

A cool mill. ain't really what it used to be. It'd take at least five for true freedom, imo. Unless you spent it in Laos or somewhere as cheap as that.

I would quite in a heartbeat. Work is for suckers.

I love doing nothing. My dream in life is to be a kept man. My "Yobo" is gonna have to start making a bit more.

I'd take up more of my favorite hobby: wood working and home renovations. (not quite good enough to make it a career)

There are mental health experts who specialize in studying and helping people who get large sums of money all at once (lottery, larger than expected inheritences, etcetera). The consensus seem to be thst it's a good idea to seek professional financial advice right away and not to make any large purchases or drsastic moves like quitting work right away- give yourself time to adjust to your newfound fortune.

I would certainly stay in ESL, but then again I love language and learning, and am happy to have found a job based around one of my hobbies and passions.

I'd definitely halve my workload, though, and take more vacations...

Work lightly, not for money, but for something to do.

I would open up a nice Kimbap restaurant, a norebang and a rub and tug, all on the same floor.

I'd blow it all in 18 months and then go back to my job at McDonald's.

Well you would never save that much money working on our salaries. Never. But having free time can eat away at what you have. I'm not good with money and I would be too tempted to spend it unwisely. And you only live once.

Yeah. I would smoke a lot of weed. Why not? I'd have to be careful with my weight though since I wouldn't be worried about losing my buzz when I get the munchies. I'd probably smoke a big cannon and go for a walk and buy food randomly, like a big box of pizza, and after getting tired of it, give it to homeless people. Then back to the crib to smoke another cannon.
