I've been hearing the date March 15th thrown around a lot for the new visa regulations. Since that date has obviously already come and gone, does that mean it is now too late to extend an existing visa without going through all of the new visa regulations?
I've agreed to an extension with my employer, and another one of my coworkers is in the same boat, but we haven't put anything through immigration yet. These are extensions of contracts that were signed around this time last year, by the way. Our employer seems to have no sense of urgency about it (my friend's original visa actually expires in a few days), but I've been hearing different things from different places.
So, is it going to be alright, or will we be asked to leave the nation of sparkle upon the expiration of our existing visas?
I think we'll find out soon enough, but I'd like to get a better idea from people who may know here, so at least I know what to think one way or the other. |

You won't need to leave BUT you will need to submit:
1. Visa Extension Application
2. Passport and your Alien Registration Card
3. New contract
4. Sponsorship Certificate (from school)
5. A copy of Certificate of School / Business Registration (from school)
6. Processing Fee
7. New Criminal Record Certificate, (notarized by your embassy in Korea)
8. New Health Check Certificate

That's pretty much impossible to accomplish in a month, right?
Or in my friend's case, a few days. |

Unless you have the Criminal Record Certificate here already or can get one printed up off the internet, yup. |

Exactly. I went on Friday (26th?) for a measley 20 day extension. They told me I would need to take a blood test and submit to a criminal check. I wouldn't have minded normally, but it was only for 20 days so I said "no thanks." |
