Today it's "Do I look Korean to you?"

This is in response to my stupid, fkn, new employer (WIN Ecuation). Part of my job is to clean the classroom. Also they want me to teach a regular 35-student class on Fridays during my prep time and not get paid for it to have good relations with the school.

My answer: Do I look Korean to you? Do I look like I want to be a slave for you and accept all your bullsheet. My jobs not bad, but the contract is really sadistic.

Why did you sign a contract that stipulated you had to clean the classroom. And, you must have signed it...so why are you complaining now? Toad.

Why don't you make your students clean the classroom like the Korean teachers do?

I don't think the contract stipulates it. I'm not sure. Why are you calling me names?

I admit that I signed the contract in a hurry to get under the new regulations when I did the transfer from my hagwon in the country. It was pretty hard finding the right school and getting to Seoul and back, etc. while I was job hunting. The thing is, I had an interview with a hagwon, and I was going to sign with them, but apparently I asked for too many changes in the contract and when I showed up, they said, "Sorry, the owner is angry and you and the recruiter," etc. This was on Friday, the 29th of February. My old contract was up on Monday, the 3rd of March. I had my letter of release, etc., but I was fkd from this hagwon and it was Friday afternoon. I had WIN on my other prospects and I had no time. I had actually told them that I had to decline their offer earlier because I was pretty sure about signing with these other guys. So I called them back after that fiasco and they told me to come in. Signed (and even negotiated for a higher salary than what they were offering). Yeah, I signed it. But it was either that or get out of Korea. Maybe I could of extended my stay and used the 29th to the 15th to find another job. That's hindsight.

Yeah, I could do that. They even tell me that I can. Whatever. It's not like I really clean it anyway. That' not a big deal. It's just a new, small classroom that always looks clean anyway.

"Ok, and how much for a kick in the ass?"
...in response to people who give you bad news, as in "Oh, we forgot to tell you, you are teaching in 10 minutes - new class!" or "Sorry, this Embassy doesn't take passport applications at this time of the day" or "Terribly sorry sir, there is no basinette available for your baby on this 13-hour flight" or...

"I don't know?"

In response to being asked to teach this extra class with no mention of being paid for it.

More of a conversation that my Elementary school wants me to check that students can say along with another 10 pages of awful dialogue:

Quote:
"Is this your shoes?"
"Yes it is"
"It looks great"

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I told them it's crap and in fact wrong. I think it's been withdrawn.

Why shouldn't a teacher keep his work space tidy? Did you ever work in a place where the employee did not ask of you to keep things tidy?

Cleaning and tidying are of course 2 different things, but a tidy place needs less cleaning and improves productivity.

Last year i got so bored in the afternoons that I used to clean the classroom voluntarily. I can be a bit of a tidiness freak. Especially because it was MY classroom and the best equipped room in the school.

Then the kids would show up to do it, and go crazy because it was already done.
