SEOUL (Thomson Financial) - North Korea on Friday fired several short-range missiles off its west coast, Yonhap news agency reported.
The South Korean agency, quoting a government source, said the missiles were fired at 10.30 am (0130 GMT) into the Yellow Sea. It said South Korean military authorities are closely watching the North's military movements.
Defense ministry officials said they were checking the report.
Yonhap gave no further details of Friday's launch, but said the communist state prepared earlier this week for a missile launch that did not go ahead at the time.
The North banned ships from part of the sea between Tuesday and Wednesday morning while a 150-ton navy boat equipped with ship-to-ship missiles was on standby off the western port of Nampo, it said.
The reported missile launch comes amid rising tensions between the two Koreas.
On Thursday, the North expelled South Korean officials from a joint industrial estate in protest at the Seoul government's new tougher policy on bilateral relations.

More sabre-rattling for attention and aid. They are pathetic.
They can test all the missiles they want, but everyone knows (themselves included) that if they ever used them in an attack they would get fucked up with a quickness. |

Won't anybody think of the cows???????????
I can't believe it... how many cows are the Norks gonna kill before we start taking them seriously. It could be pigs next, or god forbid, sheep!
It doesn't actually say anything about cows in the article, does it? |
