So instead of firing the idiots and hiring good people, we will just load you up with all the privates because the students like you. And you can take all the extra work too because no one signs up for the lazy teacher's classes and only yours. Their sign up sheet is empty, yours is completely full.

Seriously, crappy teachers don't get fired, so why not become one. Sorry, small rant, and I am sure this happens everywhere but why work hard when being lazy actually gets rewarded?!

This is because when a Korean employer has a good teacher, they want to get as much out of them as they can. The idea of rewarding good work with more money or less to do is more foreign to your bosses than you are. You feelings are not important, making money is.

That's why you should always turn down everything they offer you. 'Extra work' usually means they've come up with a new and usually untested or shady way to make more money because of some new law, because they're greedy, or because of some trouble they're in that you don't know about. It will always be really precarious and awful and ultimately demand more from you than you will ever receive from it.

Well, that's been my experience anyway.
