let me end this sentence properly:

Quote:
While Japan and Taiwan may be just as xenophobic as Korea...

Korea is by far the most blatant and open about it.
This country is very tolerant.....of racism.

hasn't changed for 1000 years, ain't gonna change anytime soon!

Really, not so bad at all. If you're laid back, not fat, not ugly, and willing to shake your head and laugh, life here is a breeze.

But, if there were a scale, with bad on the left side, and how great some Koreans, some Kyopos netizens, and lifers "think" it is on the right... it'd definitely be leaning more to the left.

I do as well, mostly because i don't let it make me too angry any more.
There are 101 minor things in the average day here to irritate the average western sensibilities- we all find our own ways of getting over them I hope.

Frankly in my visits back home there's more minor things that annoy me there than here:
1. Crappy public transport.
2. Everything closes so much earlier.
3. Taxi drivers that expect tips and don't have change.
4. Blue laws.
5. Sprawl and generally having nothing useful within walking distance of just about anywhere.
6. Much nastier public toilets.
7. No 24 hour fried chicken and beer that's delivered to your door with no expectation of a tip.
8. Cheap people.
9. No people cutting me slack when I do stupid shit because I'm a foreigner with the right skin color.
10. 1001 annoying things done to avoid getting hit by lawsuits.
11. Cops that think they're action heroes.
12. America's insane health care system.
etc. etc.

Most of my friends back home think that I'm in Korea because of loving travelling, wanting to see different cultures, etc. Bullshit. I stay here because life is easy and convenient.

This one of the worst reasons that I have ever seen, its rude, its insulting and worse it doesn't take into account personal differences.

In regards to myself due to location of birth, personal growing up experiences, I feel more comfortable meeting a "black" person than a white but that in no ways makes me a phony liberal or even a person that can be categorized with such ease.

If I ever heard that from someone, they better pray that I am in a good mood.
