nice!
I went on a date with some princess once who was really into handbags. I kept bugging her about how much her bag cost. She was pretty secretive at first, but it turns out it was over $1000. I figured her priorities were out of whack. That was our last date.
OP: you can do much better, just be wise and don't get stepped on by some spoiled chick who thinks the world owes her something. |
I used to think that a $1000 handbag was atrocious. But you have to look at it pragmatically. The bag is just a tool. It's just an entry pass into a world of...well...rich broads. It's just a badge, an ID, like those dots on Indians heads. If you think about it, it's the same reason you shave and wear a clean shirt, only x100. You want people to respect you. It'd be nice if she earned respect through something artistic or some crap like that. And it'd be also nice if she worked to change the world so that people don't give a f*ck about $1000 bags. But are you doing any of those things? I'm sure not. If i'm dating a girl with a $1000 bag, I think, "sweet. she's busting her ass for a handbag, and I don't even have clean underwear on. life is unfair and i like it."
Also, though it's crass and callous to say, expensive designer clothes are what allow old men to have sex with young women. i'm fairly certain they were invented for that purpose. so you have to think about your future. hopefully by then, you'll in a loving stable marriage with kids. but if you're not, you might want to know about gucci. |

Don't get me wrong. We had some fun before we broke up!
As for her "busting her ass for a handbag..." it was likely her busting someone else's ass for it, and I'm glad it wasn't mine. |

In all seriousness, whatever you would look for in a girl at home, same applies here. |
I don't think large breasts would apply here.
Just kidding just kidding. Come on, I need a little humor to lighten up my day. |
Seriously, no worries dude!
And any other details would help us understand the situation of your relationship better, (Time together, if you met the parents) because trust me, lots of us are going through the same thing, and talking about it helps!
And anyways, you know the K-girls are talking, they've got this message board they use over on that 'daum.co.kr' web site. I've always tried to locate their chat rooms, but never found the site on my own.
But trust, they are talking too, most Korean girls log-on with stories about their dates and relationships with Western guys.
So this is our forum to vent! |
Hehe. This is true. They even post up pictures of English teachers, talk about his credentials, job, where he works, apparent lies they tell, find out they're dating the same guy, etc. It's quite entertaining actually. Kinda scary at the same time.
We can't see these sites, cuz they require a phone-in / interview membership. How did I see it? I'm friends with a Korean girl who knows this site.
So watch out guys! The Korean girls out there are united in their insanity! |

Memorable quote. hehe, actually laughed out loud on that one. Perhaps one of the best I've read on ESLcafe... ever! "like those dots on Indians heads" is the finishing touch!

Not by a long shot.
And the ones that are get weeded out after the first date. I've never seriously dated such a woman in Korea. Ever. |

Total money out / nutz busted = $ per nut.
Compare to hookers' rates. Draw conclusions.

I know some of you are married to Koreans or are in great relationships with them. How did it happen? |
Trial and error with plenty of how you feel.
It's all fun and games 'til someone loses an eye. |

What I don't understand is this particular superficial materialistic mentality. I could understand it if it was al least internally consistent.
For example, why spend one Mil Won on a handbag, when just a little more could be spent of braces? For the price of a couple handbags you could buy braces and breast implants! It's an enigma for me to see these stuck up shopaholic premadonas with crooked teeth and flat chests!? WTF? Where are the aesthetic priorities? What are they thinking?
Also why do some of these girls get eyelid surgery before braces? I have no problem with exotic, seductive, chinky eyelids, but when a couple of these cute adorable lovelies smiled for the first time, I nearly fell out of my chair from the shock!

I wonder what's the real difference between going with a total Princess and being with a prostitute. Both will leave you when the cash runs out.
I guess with one its all head games and drama and the other is just fun |

I've seen one of these sites too- it was all in Korean of course so I couldn't understand most of it, but it was pretty clear what it was about. |

I won't go into details. All I know is that my wallet is lighter and the break-up went badly.
Every generalization people said about Korean girls was true with my ex. (wanting expensive designer products. Always complaining about something. Sense of entitlement where you go out of your way to do something special for them and they don't appreciate it because thats expected of you since you are their boyfriend).
Are all Korean girls like that? |
No, they're not all like that. I've dated my share of hot ones and I really don't have any of the money-oriented experiences you describe. First up I split the bills, don't automatically buy them stuff, and don't get the whining either.
My "relationships" typically end for other reasons. Usually everythings fine until I start getting more interested in them, then they back off and dissapear. I guess thats par for the course with hotties I suppose. Maybe i should go out with more average looking women?
I see loads of bitterness on here- I'm not bitter myself, although I can see why loads of westerners who date Koreans get that way. Ultimately Korea is a pretty harsh dating experience. I'd advise anyone who's in Asia for easier-going women to head to Japan or Phillipines. But some of us can't resist a challenge . |

| I was with a potential candidate last night-she made a not so so subtle attempt to look at the paper receipt from the ATM last night. Smooth. |

Whoa, good friend? If you are trying to date a girl the last place you want to be is the dreaded Friend Zone....
Speaking of Korean girls once... I dated one in the STates once and maybe some of you encoutnered this: If we went some placer, and I forgot to open the door, she would stand behind the door with her hands out like "wtf" until I came back and opened it, same thing if I forgot to let her out of the car... my other guy friends told me that this was BS on her part and I should have put her in her place. What your guys take on that

No.
Just the trophy girls all you young fellows keep chasing after.
Look at it this way: You just dodged a bullet.
Your demanding, selfish girlfriend would have simply become your selfish, demanding wife if you guys had stuck together.
Ass is just ass, and you shouldn't try to base your life upon it.
If you want a good, long-lasting relationship, find a good friend first.
And stop giving a crap about where she was born. |
Well said TWG |

The first time I ever asked about dating a Korean girl, I received an answered like this from a gyopo girl "She'll be demanding, want presents from you all the time, will spend YOUR money and you will LIKE IT!" Heck, even from ajummas living in the states I hear lines like this when they try to set me up with some girl "She's not like a normal Korean girl, she's not demanding and is really nice..." Slightly offtopic but even my ex Chinese gf said "If you were like a normal Korean guy, I wouldn't have dated you."
All these lines made me think "Damn, what the hell's wrong with Korean people and their dating habits/personalities?" I was quite scared of dating Korean women until I got to know my sisters better and realized they were not demanding nor high maintenance. You just have to screen your dates better and pick up on obvious bad signs (eg. wanting you to pay for everything, etc.)
OP, good luck in the future. As for me, I'm starting to think that Japanese or southern Chinese girls may be the way to go. Yep, that'll give my Mom a heart attack in the future, "Hey Mom, meet my fiance Katsumi." laff. |
Got to know your sisters better? Are you from West Virginia? |
