I was watching the "Kickin' It In Geumchon" video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjBfy_HVoSM
there was a little line in there about having your swim cap which I thought only a foreigner would find funny. They hit all the markers save for fan death. However, the swim cap comment reminded me of swimming in public pools in Korea. Ever noticed the mandated "time outs"? The Korean government has some law that pools all have to force all swimmers to take a rest after something like 40 minutes in the pool. So the clear out the pool, everyone chills for 10 minutes and they start it up again.
Anyone ever hear of a person dying from being in a pool for 42 minutes? Come summer in Canada, I'll live in a pool. |

The hydrogen combines with the oxygen in a roughly two-to-one ratio that takes all the air out of the mixture! It's quite deadly!!! |

I heard that they have high levels of dihydrogen monoxide to the pools here. They don't want their kids overexposed to that. |

My "Japanese bikini wrestling" video has over 80K views, tho it's been on longer. It's not all that erotic. I just thought it was funny TV on the late night Korean dial. I did a totally ghetto capture with my digital camera. |

Here's a western equivalent: Don't go swimming until 20 minutes after eating.
Try to reference that from anyone other than your grandmother.
But many people will defend that just as passionately as a Korean will defend fan death! |

MM2, are you certain that your 'girlfriend' isn't actually a man? Looks so in the face...
Time to go back to the dinosaur avatar. |

Something like fan death is how my K-teacher thinks of rainwater. She thinks it's very dirty and polluted.
Not even good for washing with. |

Really? 20 years ago sure. But I'm not sure if people believe that as much today. As new information becomes available we change our attitude. You have medical doctors in Korea who still swear by fan death. |

I never really questioned the swimming after eating thing until recently. I'm sure there are some doctors back home that still believe this. I can't imagine it being on the medical exam papers. |

Yeah but too dirty to wash with? I collect rainwater (live out in the country) and run it thru the washing machine. Otherwise water comes gravity fed from a big tank that has to be refilled by a visiting water truck.
Your acerbic wit is like acid rain to me^^ |
