Funny, I was trying to work out why all these Iraqi people are fleeing their country.

Can't for the life of me think why? Something to do with a botched war.

The flood of Muslim immigrants to the west was planned long in advance.

Problem, reaction, solution ...

Interesting article Adventurer (*waves hi* I finally got Internet!!) but I have to agree with Dome Vans. I've a Swede that constantly feeds me random Swedish news and trivia and have never heard about the immigration being a problem. I do recall seeing a story on The Local a few months ago about violence that broke-out because of cultural differences but it turns out it was between 2 groups of immigrants and it didn't involve a native.

Just curious, are you part Swedish as well?

When Swedes start to see that the overwhelming recipients of these benefits are people whose values are diametrically opposed to their own, and that many of these people are not really 'enriching' Swedish society in any way, they will start to change their minds.

Sweden has a diverse group of immigrants from Russians, Iraqi Christians and Muslims, but more Christians, , Bosnians, Kossovars, and Muslims from various countries. I am not an immigration expert, but I would think Bosnians generally would make good immigrants and so would the Iraqi Christians, because they are generally highly educated.
I think the Russians do fine in the Nordic countries over all. There will be cultural differences between immigrants and the countries that take them in, and that must not be ignored in terms of ensuring they speak Swedish or what have you, and that they understand the values your society follow etc.... I don't think immigration has been as big in the past as it was in Germany, France, and England. I have only heard of a real flare up in Scandinavia in Denmark. Anyway, people in the world have to know how to interact with each other in the best ways possible, because we have lots of challenges to deal with as a global community.

I don't have ancestry from Sverge, Rae. I do admire many things about Sweden and Norway, however.

One thing I noticed living there, and it being a country I love very much is that really do see the benefits of the high taxes. It was the first country I've been to where everybody gets a tax rebate every year based on the total paid and their income. Amazing. I got about 600 quid ($1200) back for one year, which after being in England shocked me. How they manage to do this amazes me. Will this ever happen in England? Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I doubt it. That's why the gap between richest and poorest in England is increasing all the time and Sweden's is being maintained even decreasing.

The transport, the maintaining of State housing, the health care and especially the education is certainly good markers for how effective the system works. Swedes are naturally very shy people but they believe in consensus before policy and the stick to the system. Like Korea you really do notice immigrant workers. But they really are still so much in the minority still. With regards to why England??? and other countries get more immigrants is partly due to location and weather. Sweden can be a very harsh place to live in the winter. England, France and Germany are always going to be more popular places to move to.
