Filters are pointless. Get a proper airwasher & you'll be fine. Much better than HEPA filters.

I can't tell the difference when it's all in Korean.
I know filters are pointless, they are only good for so long before they do more harm then good....
Got a link to a airwasher? |

That's pretty pricey for just using it for a year.....The HEPA might be ok, if Im just using it for 6months...I know an air washer is probably the best. But 240k is a heafty price tag... |

I have two of those in my home as well. When you change the water out after a week in the sink, you can see all the crap it has collected. It's pretty impressive. Just add water b4 you go to sleep or when you wake up in the morning & it's always cleaning @ 100% efficiency.
245k is peanuts if you have clean air in your home. You'll save far more in medical bills in the long run & never feel miserable.

You can rent an air purifier for about 25,000 won a month. This includes filter changes. There is usually a 100,000 won intial fee but I've heard that can sometimes be waived. Ask a Korean friend or colleague to help you find a rental place in your area. Also, I was in E-mart on the weekend and I noticed that they were renting out their air purifiers.
Plus, buy lots of plants that clean the air. Old market areas are great places to buy affordable plants.

I also bought wood charcoal from the old market in our town. It is supposed to absorb bad smells and clean the air. |

Is that last one an air washer? It's Chungpung Mugu, which is a decent brand.
I've never tried an air washer. They sound interesting. We have two HEPA-style filters in our house. Filter replacements can be pricey, so it pays to find out how much a replacement filter will cost you. Sharp is a good brand which is initially a bit pricey, but the filter replacements are not so bad in price.
We get filter replacements from www.oclaire.co.kr |

I'm so frustrated trying to figure out a good air purifier. Trying to justify paying an extra $30 for one, when I can't tell the difference. Or should I just pay $250 on one just based on price, and hope for a good product.
I want to order one by tonight, but this is super frustrating trying to decide on one....
Any recommendations on one under $150, that will clean the air good in a 15peyong size apt. I just want clean air in my apt, I will only be using it for the next 10months, then I'll prob sell it.... |

We have this Hanil model. Perfect for a year, if that's all you plan on staying. We've had ours for two though, and it's about time to change filters again:
http://www.interpark.com/product/MallDisplay.do?_method=detail&sc.shopNo=0000100000&sc.prdNo=17574128&sc.dispNo=016001
It's a no-frills model without digital displays, and has three settings with an electrostatic switch if you want to use it. Works quite well, and I do notice an improvement. We're happy. We just leave it on Medium and it's fine. No need for all of the expensive electronics they have on the machines these days. It's also rated for 7 to 25pyung, which is much higher than a lot of other models are rated for. It will move the air through it quite well, which is what I consider most important. The low setting is ultra-quiet. The medium setting is not a bother. The high setting is ... well, pretty high.
And it's not expensive. Refills are expensive (50,000) unless you use www.oclaire.co.kr for a little cheaper price. |

I like the Venta. You can buy it at Costco. I think the medium sized one runs around 500 000 Won and it is worth every penny. |

I'm interested in finding a store that sales air purifiers, particularly the Hanil. I can't find anywhere on Dave's that specifies a store. Does anyone know who might have a selection? I looked all over e mart yesterday and I could only find humidifiers. Store and station if you have it. Thanks |

I'm still a fan of the Hanil air cleaner I linked to above. If you're here just a year, it's the thing to get. Lots of power, too. |
