I'm looking for something with the following specs:

- Base Tower
- Between 2-3ghz system (P4 preferred)
- 1gb memory
- 40gb or more HDD
- Maybe 2-3 year old graphic card
- Sound card not important
- DVD/RW
- Network support
- Base Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse

How much should I looking to be paying for all this? Should I look to get the tower separate from the monitor? I'm trying to get a replacement for my crappy 1.6 Celly Laptop without spending too much. But, I'm digging into student funds and can't buy a new computer. I just need something a tad faster.

200k won for an entry level system (NEW / assembled while you wait) at Yongsan will meet (or exceed) all your requirements.
Dual core CPU, 160-250gig HDD, GT7600 video, DVD burner, 1 gig RAM.

Add 150k for a new LCD monitor. A used CRT will run about 30k won.
Mouse (5k) and keyboard (4k).

I see. I can just take a list of basic specs and give that to them? Which department is this anyway? Smile

Anyway of getting a cheaper LCD? Say 100k?

Sure thing. Get a 15 inch. You'll regret anything less than a 19 inch though.

If you're looking to save money definitely get a CRT. Yah they're bulky but a 19 inch flat screen CRT will be infinitely more enjoyable than a tiny LCD, and cheaper to boot.

Can you get a cheaper LCD? maybe, but probably small and/or used/refurbished.

What department? It is an electronics market that covers about 6-10 buildings. The most expensive ones are in the mall above Yongsan station.

The best deals are usually over at the Son-in Plaza.
The shops in the old terminal building are in between.

Um anyway, do they speak English? My computer Korean is not too great, even if I can write it all down in a list in Korean, I still want the most out of my money~

Computer Korean and Computer English are the same language. I'd get an old 17inch LCD if you're looking at cutting corners. They're the same resolution as a lot of 19inchs. Still why not get the better screen? It will outlast your computer in all likelyhood so you might as well get a good one.

So get off your axx and head down there.

You should be able to find an affordable, workable system - within your budget (whatever that may be) in about 30 minutes - configured with whatever flavor of windows you want.

new towers from 200k
used towers (p4s) from 70k
new monitors from 150k
used CRTs for 30k (sometimes free if you buy a tower).

IF you can't find an affordable, entry level system within 30 minutes at son-in plaza you must be either blind and mute or brain dead.

Yeah well, a bad case of severe weakness from a flu/virus is preventing me going anywhere at the moment.
