What positive things have you learned in Korea?

Now, this doesn't have to necessarily be connected to the culture, but what do you feel you've learned since you've been in Korea that has contributed to your life in a positive way?

I have learned to be more and more tolerant of others. I have learned how cultures in a way are all the same in some ways, and that it's easy to judge another culture when you are not really not part of it directly and misunderstand it, and you should keep that in mind when trying to look at it, and you should approach it for what it is more than for what you wish it should be just as a person you were with you shouldn't keep imagining him or her as you want her or him to be, but how he or she is and if you can live with that.

I have had a lot of spare time for which I am grateful and read lots of books on Zen, found time to meditate, get back in touch with the college like days sans the excessive alcohol.

I learned from dating a few women more about myself and about being more and more patient with myself and others, not that I am impatient, but sometimes even the patient can learn to be more patient when someone is in a delicate place.

I have learned to grow and grow with a great old buddy who I am lucky has come here and we have enjoyed shooting ideas at each other and looking at each other's perspectives, and I learned a ton from my female best friend that left.

For many things, I am grateful. I am sure there are things to whine about sometimes in Korea whether you are a foreigner or a Korean, but many of us have been lucky in many ways, I would say. That said, it doesn't mean I don't miss home, and certain things I took for granted, I miss....

wishing you all blessings....

Everyone learns something good or useful, no matter their age when they come or the lenght of time they're here.

But the OP's post is way over the top. Hugfest, anyone? Prozac? Hey, whatever gets you through the day.

Thats some of the gayest shit I have ever heard. You learned to be more tolerant? Probably didnt learn that from your Korean hosts.

What have I learned? Nationalism in all its forms is ridiculous. Rampant consumerism is almost as bad.

Some people become aholes due to being shat on all the time (like us in Korea), while some realize how it feels and try to never do it to others, and thereby become more tolerant. I would be much more tolerant of immigrants back home due to the crap I put up with here!

Aye, I definitely sympathize with immigrants now. Nonetheless, migrant workers have a much more dire status than us.

Don't take bullshit from anyone. Stand up for your self and don't let people walk all over you.

Don't pay for everything and anything when it comes to women.
