I did try - went to a few SK shops - showed the text message in Korean that says that the phone needs to be re-registered by today only to be met with blank looks. So what now? Will my phone be cut off tomorrow? Tempted to sack off SK and get a contract after this. |

Why don't you? I got myself an LG Telecom phone the other day because of this SK bs. It's pretty easy... all you need is your ARC and bankbook. No deposits necessary. They offered me a Cyon phone for free, but I opted to pay a bit more and get a nice one. |

Well, by April 10th, I won't be able to make calls. I went on a visa run a few weeks ago. I have now to get an appointment at a hospital, wait a week for tests and then apply for my card. I have 90 days to take care of the phone thing in order to not lose my number, I am going to try to use my passport to be able to use my phone until I get my card in.... |

Went to the SK place at Technomart on Saturday with a friend because he got the same message and the local shops couldn't/wouldn't help him.
He filled out a form and showed his alien card, and then the lady told us he'd be getting another text message in 3 months, and then he'd need to come back with his passport.
I'm not sure why because the conversation was limited by my poor Korean. |

Yeah, I just used my SK phone successfully too! WTF? Oh well, I already bought a new one to match my new number.....
I was told (in English) by folks at a big SK branch that old number would def be dead from today as was not registered to me (and I couldn't produce the original person. who had the phone to sign it over.)
Hmmmmmmmmmm. |

I went to an SK shop on Saturday. The guy seemed to know what to do and he spoke English. My phone still works. He also gave me the number to get a balance and expiry date in English. 011 200 7277. I tried to get that number many times before only to be met with blank looks. Hats off to the guy. |

i went to SK with a coworker yesterday....they just made sure the phone was in my name and i went on my way...however they did say i had to go every 3 months to show id and that the phone is still mine.
i guess they just dont want people using phones that arent in their name??
also, for the person who will have no alien card, i used my passport and they didnt care. in fact the three month thing is because of using the passport, if you use your alien card to register you only have to go every 6 months....so i am told. |

Well my battery's dead today so no idea if it's been cut off or not! I was quite happy with this set up as well now that you don't need to top up every month (regardless of whether you had money or not left) - so it's only been costing me 10,000 every couple of months.
Hope it still works! |

Are there any rules here?? It seems so hit and miss for what kind of service you get. |

I have SK service. My phone is registered in my name. I got the same texts from them in Hangul and English. I confirmed my number and registration several weeks ago. My phone works just fine today. Who knows? |
