I just got a weird call from one of my army friends. He asked if I was north of the Han River. Of course I'm down in Bundang, so he told me I'm safe.

Apparently North Korean troops have been surging along the DMZ. If they attack, they'll barrel through the defences, and they stand a good chance of reaching the northern edge of Seoul.

If you are up north, I'm not saying drop everything and run, but at least stay inside and keep a TV on.

North Korea would fire their mortars/artillery and level everything south of the DMZ before they send troops.

I think we have a ways to go before they invade. They will attack Korean navy boats, take potshots at warplanes, etc to try and provoke the South. When South Korea starts sinking their gear, then they can say they are defending themselves. This new president has big balls demanding real progress from the Norks rather than just kissing away billions of dollars in aid, but he may also set peace on the penninsula back 30 years while he's doing it.
The other poster is right too. The north has thousands of missiles (not nukes) ready to soften every possible obstacle between the border and Seoul. All them little speedbumps they call military bases wont' even slow them down.

If in the very unlikely event that it all goes bad, I know where I'm going, do you?

LMB may very well set reunification back a decade or two, but in the long run it is needed. You can't negotiate from a position of weakness especially in Korean culture. If the two Koreas are ever going to come together South Korea has to have a much stronger position in the North/South relationship then it does right now.

I think we should get a "weigook" caravan started! So who's in!?? All we need are people with motorcycles, cars... hopefully guns (any friends in the US military who will desert and help us?), and food supplies of course... and head down to Busan, picking up other weigooks along the way! The Busan people hopefully will have made rafts! We can raft out to Japan! And then... homefree!

Come on people! Let's work together!

All this cowardice! I expect you all to form a line along the DMZ with the finest airsoft rifles you can muster!

We can buy the Koreans some time to evacuate by executing "The Great WTF Manouver", like Canada did when it burned down the White House in 1812. If we can make the North Koreans scratch their heads for half a second before killing us, then mission accomplished!

something might be brewing....

"The Lee regime will be held fully accountable for the irrevocable catastrophic consequences to be entailed by the freezing of inter-Korean relations and the disturbance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula due to its sycophancy towards the US and its moves for confrontation with the North," the state daily said.

Crap, I've always worried about who I'd try to shoot at if I had a gun and SK was under invasion. How can you tell the uniforms apart?! They seem so close.

I guess I'd just shoot at the short ones.

Not exactly. First we have to raft from Dok Do to somewhere that has an airport.

The North is just pissed because the South is not willing to play ball using the rules set by the Roh administration. The North will take a timeout in the naughty corner and once they realize that their people and soliders will starve to death without the aid from South Korea they will come back to the table kicking and screaming. Understandably the North is pissed because the South has been giving them everything they want with no expectations for the past 10 years. I should add that it was being done at the expense of the South Korean tax payers. Now LMB is changing that. It could get interesting here for a while, but as one poster stated with the Olympics coming up China will not allow North Korea to be too crazy. This kind of statement was made monthly by North Korea not too many years ago.
