Has anyone registered with KB for the internet banking service they offer?
I'm about to head to my branch to try and set it up, on the website it says i need to register for some kind of certificate so i can use the internet banking and transfer services?
how easy is it to get one of these certificates? and what do i need to take to the bank (passport, id card??) in order to get the certifcate??
I'm mainly doing this to use the transfer service....i am sick of being asked where my money came from etc by the teller.
on a side note how would people rate the transfer service that they offer?...are there limitations on where/when and how much money i can send?
help appreciated |

KB is one of the worst banks to work with as a foreigner.
Run to Standard Chartered (SC 1st bank/Jaeil bank) for anti-discriminatory banking. |

I don't know, they gave me an International atm card that works (proven) overseas. For internet banking I recommend KEB, however. |

I opened and promptly closed an account with SC yesterday. Got the card but they refused to let me have internet banking, or let me use the transfer service that it clearly states on their website that it is offered. Their excuse, "oh we're not really an international bank that is just to have english on our website" that just pissed me off so closed it on the spot. |

But didn't you get your international ATM card years ago when restriction wasn't a standardized practice across nearly all Korean banks? |

i don't know about transferring money but you need:
1. Passport.
2. ARC card.
3. Maybe a letter from your school ( assuming you are a teacher ) stating you work there etc. ( not mandatory but i did have to bring one in once before ).
4. A payslip.
5. You choose the ID you want and password for Net banking.
The certificate is a file that you install on your computer which grants you access to the transferring online side of things.
Bring a USB and they will put it onfor you and when you go to your computer you will be asked for this cert file and then run the cert file.
Basically bring every piece of ID and pay related stuff with you just to be prepared. |

I set up internet banking with KB* a year or so ago. It was easy to get set up, I just asked while I was doing a transfer one day and she gave me the little card/certificate thing which I used at home to set up. For the transfers though I have no idea how it works - there is an option for transfers on the site but it's only to other Korean banks here it seems. I did try to do a transfer to an account here one time but that didn't work!
If anyone knows how to do an international transfer then please help me out! |

You only need your passport legally. You must have proof of legal income when your transfer reach the $10,000 US mark within one year of an un-interupted stay in Korea. If I leave Korea for a week to go to China, that limit resets itself.
But these laws aren't understood by Korean banks, so yes, you may need all those things. |

Ive had no problem with my one and ive sent over 10 million home in a year...no proof of income needed.
What is it about their policies that sets them apart from the other banks? |

so it seems that KB internet banking does not allow international transfers online???
mmm...may have to rethink?...the main reason i'm applying for the certificate is to transfer funds overseas from the ease of my living room?? |

Yup me too - but I still have to make the trek down to the bank to do it unfortunately....
However! I did ask about this last time I was at the bank and they said "Yes it is possible" but she couldn't show me how. I think I'll try again next time. Don't be put off by my uselessness! Ask them to show you exactly how it's done when you get your certificate (and erm..tell me?) |

I have KB internet banking. You cannot make international transfers with it, only domestic. |
