				| Saunas are alright. Wish they had PCs with internet connection though cuz it gets boring after awhile. | |

				| This thread has me seriously considering trying out the sauna experience. I've been in Budapest and Switzerland and loved it but haven't considered going here.
One thing has me a little on the fence. A few posters have mentioned urinary tract infections and filthy water. Is this normal or something that you're likely to find at the lower end spas? I certainly don't want to get the drip from using the toilet in one of these places.

				| They spit, pee, and lots of other disgusting stuff. I will only go to a fairly higher end one (cleans well, not BS cleaning) and I will only go just after they cleaned. ...you know kids are peeing. Also, I'm sure that the fat disgusting people don't wipe their asssses well and you get to marinate in that. I make sure that I wash like crazy several times but yeah, its still gross when it comes down to germs and reality. It does seem that the fat people both old and young are the most unsanitary and slovenly... that blow their noses free of snot into the water, flip out and scrub their foreskins in the pools, spit loogies everywhere, sratch up their crack under water, etc. more than most others...It freaks me out because you know the water isn't clean anymore then. I have bad joint problems, headaches and foot and back issues so I deal with it but cringe and give gross people dirty looks and chastise them in english if I can. PS, be very vigilant and go after a full cleaning/water replacement has been done. And if you're a girl sit on a towel, even in the water of a pool.

				| i think its great if people like them (different strokes for different folks) but the excuse about getting clean or getting rid of the dead skin is ridiculous...i get quite clean in my own shower and exfoliate myself all the time in privacy....also you can get massages and facials and anything else "spa-like" without being butt naked in front of 1000 people...so lets just come out with the truth!
....be it consciously or sub-consciously...people who enjoy the saunas are enjoying them for the exhibitionist and/or sexual thrill they get from being naked in public. and if you deny it you're lying to me, yourself, and everyone else.

it is what it is. enough with the bullshit excuses.

I'm down with the steam rooms and the hot tubs but yes, I agree with the retardation and transparancy of the dead skin and better clean excuse. That always struck me as total BS too and I'm glad you called it out. Right on!

				| I don't know if this was covered or not already in this thread because there are so many posts here, but can someone please tell me what the water temperature is like in the baths? I heard that the water tends to be almost scalding in Japanese onsens, but I'm interested in knowing if Korean jjimjilbangs are like this too possibly. | |

When I went, the different baths ranged from 36-42 degrees Celcius. Each bath was marked with a temp.

The last one I went to also had some colder baths, 8 and 12 degrees.

				| Precisely.
My first 'bath' in Korea was a modified rubbermaid trash can (yes, this was a long time ago) because the shower was shyte and the water pressure was non-existant.

Even now, showers are great, but when you need to soak, the Mega Mart buckets just won't cut it.

Most spas have about 4-5 different baths, each ranging from ice cold to near-scalding, but the best time to go is right after you come home from the bars. Almost nobody ever goes then, and you can use as much water as you want.
