Hey all. First post, so go easy.....
I've read a lot about the Yonsei and Sogang programs on Dave's and on a couple of others but I don't see much about Ewha's Language Program. Basically, its the only one I can do due to my summer schedule here in the States (Texas) but I just wanted to know if anyone here had either heard about this program, give any advice, known someone who attended, etc.
I'm probably going to place in the second from the bottom level - as I can read, write in Hanguel, speak simple conversational Korean, and pretty comfortable with the culture. I get private lessons once a week here and they are pretty grammar intensive, so grammar's not scary or anything.
Also, it might help to know that I'm an ESL/Special Education major (early childhood through 4th grade) and have only one more year - I start student teaching in the Fall - just trying to get a little more Korean language skills in before I start teaching.
Anyways, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Everyone in my Yonsei KLI institute moved to Ehwa after our first summer intensive class. It was three nights a week, for three hours...and hardly any speaking practice. Lots of grammar, we had the strictest teacher in the whole program, it sucked, but to be fair, she worked hard to teach us and we learned a little bit. Too bad we never got much speaking and pronunciation help, it was a level 1 class after all...
Everyone said Ehwa was the best. |

that's actually a little reassuring. sorry to hear about your experience though.
I gotta say though, some of the best teaching experiences I've had were from terrible teachers. It's funny and I know some of you know what I'm talking about, but when you see such a bad example of teaching, you think to yourself "wow, okay, so NEVER do that in my classroom" I had this awful jazz instruction in junior college.....*shudder* |
