How many of you have been to China?
Not exactly the pillar of human rights countries.
How many of you have been to Mexico...I could make my case there as well.
The compound is controlled by Hyundai tours...mostly...I'm sure some cash changes hands...but you know what...I figure even if a couple of my dollars end up in the mouths of a few DPRK citizens in need...that's fine with me.
Then again...they could end up in nukes...but I'd rather remain positive, it is a beautiful place afterall. |

ah the govt. of mexico doesn't hijack food aid to feed its army. It has opened itself to a plethora of international business. It has had explosive growth in the telemarketing industry. It elected a non-Party of the Revolution candidate. It does not point armed warheads at neighboring countries. So how exactly ARE you going to make a case for Mexico? |

Routine corruption of police and political figures that regularly deal with those international clients you so proudly proclaim are jumping the border to the south in droves.
Drug trafficking into the US for...oh...the better part of the past four decades.
Arbitray jailings and detentions of Mexican nationals along with a number of foreign nationals.
At least with the DPRK you basically can't get in.
Routine ransomed kidnappings of school children....I've known people who have worked in Mexico City...doing ESL...that have had school children dropped off to school in motorcades.
Sink holes appearing in every corner of Mexico city at a moment's notice.
More pollution and overcrowding than we could ever dream of here in Korea.
Human rights violations miles long before your heralded Felipe Calderon...miles and miles long.
Their own citizens think it's wonderful there...then again...we have that darned border jumping problem.
Yes...I'll go to Keumgangsan any day of the week thank you very much. |

| I want to do this, and I heard there is a one day trip but I don't know where to find it. Can anyone help me out or give suggestions where to look? |

Go to the "Korea" section...you'll see Mt. Geumgang.
I think a few of the other travel agencies also offer this trip.
It's pricey...but it is a beautiful site. |

The mountain trip is lame and a waste of time and money...

Yes, I know about that one, but it's 3 days. I would like to go on a one day trip if possible.
About the other tour - it looks interesting but is extremely pricey for a one day trip. |

I went on the tour over Seollal this year. The mountains were really beautiful. Because of the holiday and it being winter it was much less crowded than the summer and cheaper, too.
One guy in our group spoke Korean and had some interesting conversations with the Norks who worked at the mountain. They were surprised at 30 white people all at once, and asked him if students in the South studied English!
