Besides the money, what makes a successful politician?
I'm nowhere near an Ivy League grad and nary the money of a rich man.
Most U.S. presidents worked hard in the school and career lives but most have had high-calibre educations.
I realize contacts and exposure are the way to get a foot in but if contemplating local politics, what's the best way to get started? Volunteering? |

I would guess joining a secret society like the Skulls would be a decent place to start. Also, you must go to church regularly. Christian church, of course.
I'm not sure if it takes a lot of work. Maybe on a municipal level, but definitely not on a state/province or national level. |

For some reason, GWB sprang to mind here. Not going to Vietnam as a good career move, I like it. I'm sure he got the job through his brain work. I heard he regularly speaks with Stephen Hawkins about black holes. He also beats Gary Kasparov at chess most days.
Selling your soul is the only way to make it in politics. It'll be far easier to own a big company and just pay some monkey politician to push through crap legislation for you. If you want to make a difference it's not going to happen. |
