Hi,
Has anyone taught for Samsung or is currently teaching there who would like to share some information?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I've used the search function but without success. |

Nothing current but I knew a few teachers there a few years ago.
At that time:
Masters required
Early morning start times, finish in the afternoon
You'll be expected to become part of Samsung culture
Nice 2-bedroom apartments, not shared, in Bundang
A feeling of "real teaching," not babysitting (no offence intended to all the teachers here)
In general, a pretty satisfying job. |

For what its worth, I also know quite a few foreigners working in Samsung's Global Strategies Group, an internal consulting arm.
Their take on Samsung culture is that it is definitely hard to fit in. Everyone makes the effort to help them be comfortable but not actually be part of the group. Kept on the side.
This affects their work as their input is considered extremely valuable but internal politics affects implementation. Everyone I've talked to said that this was frustrating in that they put so much effort into something, only to have it neglected with a "yes, this is good and I agree but it's difficult...you must understand."
Again, this is GSG, not HRDC, but interesting foreigner perspective on working at mighty Samsung. |
