Who cares? I have lived in 6 countries and can honestly say that Korea is the worst by far. Whatever bad press they get, they deserve. Japan seems to be moving ahead and making progressive waves whilst Korea is stuck in its inglorious past, operates a labour system tantamount to certain forms of slavery, forces young children into a useless educational system that does virtually nothing for them and beats them when they fail to memorise the adage from the King Jame's Bible, which of course is incredibly useful for the purposes of communication. Confucianism must die; it must die very quickly. I actively teach heresy to my 'children'. They must rebel and start a revolution soon lest Korea never tear itself free from the bondage it has sold itself into. All I am, is English speaking meat here and all they are, is a bank. Let them say whatever they want.

Yeah, I looked at those links and ran a search.
They couldn't understand how I compared Soulja Boi to Wonder Girls.

Wonder Girls -Tell Me.
Soulja Boi Tell 'em- Crank Dat Superman.

Do the math...

and yet no word from them about my plan to use them as suicide bombers to stall a NK invasion. I guess they like the idea.

My ability to read Korean is extremely limited and worsening . . . (as is my writing in English). I asked my wife to briefly scroll through the comments in Korean (on the Korean websites), translated from English to Korean by Dave users, and Koreans reactions to these comments.

Most of them seemed pretty harmless. Some of the comments taken from this website were other foreigners bashing Canada and USA. Nothing too degoratory about Korea.

Other comments related to Korean language questions and misunderstandings, as well as Korean history. Most Koreans responded fairly positively.

Can anyone provide any original Korean language posts, and English translations which show either posts from Dave's (on these websites) that berate Korea, or Koreans responding in disdain to foreigners comments?

It would be interesting to see how Koreans react to some of the negative experiences foreigners experience here (many just don't know how some foreigners are treated in Korea), as well as reactions to the blatant Korea bashing that often pervades this website.

For a moment, I actually felt ashamed on how my "foreigner peers" comments could either a) fuel further Korean's stereotypes about foreigners b) truly offend some Koreans who genuinely are interested and compassionate towards foreigners. Oh well, the feeling will probably pass . . .

I remember being on a message board for foreigners in Japan, and it was only foreigners who posted. A foreign girl who described herself as a cute blond posted that she was interested in Japanese men, and within a few minutes there were several responses from Japanese guys with their contact information.

I'm sure there are plenty of Koreans lurking here. My guess is that most of them are more concerned with practicing reading native English than with collecting dirt on the EFL community. There are probably a few such unbalanced people though, and this board has given them more than enough ammo. It's not the end of the world. If one of you with good Korean were to go to message boards for Koreans or Korean-Americans in the US, I'm sure you'd find some dirt.

This is best I could figure out.

Babelfish translates this as:
Quote:

The Koreans whom per the new market public peace buys over and Inch'on overseas Chinese. And is per a Chinese public peace. Babelfish translates as
Quote:
These fellows are promoting a disorder absurdly organized from the Korean Internet. If the South Korean person is a boy [swi] blood Singh transformation to receive, step [syes]. In South Korean 48,000,000 people the possibility of these fellows is absurd a fraud transformation already all at seven degree.

Context; I had posted an article on Dave's about Korea being ranked lower than Japan by the Chinese. It was from the English Chosen Ilbo.
The gesom website had quotes from me and other members.

Babelfish isn't trustworthy so I don't know who the blogger is referring to as cockroaches or who is promoting a disorder. Maybe the blogger or bloggers were bashing China or Japan? I don't know either way.

My word. That was probably the worst translation I have been privy to. I think we need someone to translate the translation. Poor Douglas Adams would be disgraced if he knew his creation was such an abomination . . .

If this site was used for anti-foreigner propaganda, then that reaction would justify some of the very criticisms made about Korea on said (this) site.
