I thought I'd reached the point where nothing surprised me in Korea any more but assuming I'm not misunderstanding, apparantely there are 'fishing rooms' in Korea where one can go fish in a pond(tank?) about the size of the average noraebang room. And I mean fishing as in catching fish.

Is this really true? I asked my student about ten times whether he meant *real* fish and not plastic ones, and he assured me it was true. He tells me that after you catch them you put them back.

I figured it wouldn't be so bad if it was just a net, but he assured me it's with a fishing rod and a hook.

This whole endeavour sounds bizarre to me. Has anyone experienced it? Can you recommend a good fishing-room? Are there any luxury fishing rooms? Can I get a bottle of whiskey and a scantily clad young lady to help me fish?

The rumors are true, real fish and real water. I've gone a couple times..

It's some kind of contest. If you catch a tagged fish you get 'points' in which you can redeem for prizes. Also ending every hour is a contest to see who caught the biggest/smallest (yes smallest..) fish and in turn they give prize points.

Definately a strange experience I must say..

Hrm.

So how many times can a fish be caught before it dies? Do these places get stocked up pretty often?

I guess this is the closest one gets to shooting fish in a barrel..

They must have to change the fish frequently. Fish aren't the smartest creatures, but I assume they would get wise to what was happening after getting gouged by a dangling fishhook several (100's of?) times.
