So I was dreaming about leaving here this weekend, to chicken to really do it but have had a couple of glasses of wine, anyway, I was surprised that the fare I got quoted on expedia if I left in two days or 4 months from now was basically exactly the same. Is this because expedia being a discounter is given some cheap last minute tickets on flights leaving soon, or is the notion now outdated that you need to book months in advance? |

If you want last-minute cheap tickets, check www.072.com It's a Korean site but you can get cheap tickets on short notice. |

I never book ahead anymore... but mostly because my dates are really flexible nowadays. I can go whenever within a 2 month window, so I just look a few weeks before and actually buy my tickets instead of just reserving them.
I think Korea has done this to me because you can never find out how much things really are until a month or two before you are due to depart!! |

I think the guy that mentioned fuel crisis is correct. Fares seem to be shooting up, and it doesn't look like a thousand dollar round trip is possible anymore.
Anyway, having done further research it still seems like there isn't much advantage to booking ahead, and in fact it seems there are a number of last minute websites (although must of them won't work if you're departing Korea) that will allow you to save more by booking last minute. |

Yeah, that seems to be the trend these days - to buy last minute. |
