Japan vs. Korea.
Wow this thread comes up so much it should be on permanent posting.
The short of it. Japan is much nicer to live in, much harder to get into, harder to get set up in. And maybe harder to save money in. But....And it is a big but, Japan has a better quality of foreigners, who are smarter and more interesting. It tends to attract the arty crowd while Korea attracts the frat crowd from Ontario or the Midwest.
Japan is friendlier. But at the same time, in places like Tokyo the Japs aren't really interested in you all that much. they don't stare and they really dont care about you. But in places like Kansai or Osaka, they tend to be more open and interested in you. I happen to think Osaka is much cooler than Tokyo. So it might be worth it to check it out.
The Japs are, believe it or not worse at English than the Koreans. English isn't mandatory in the public schools like it is in Korea. You tend to get away with less there than here. Japan is more orderly. And it applies to everybody.
But if you are burnt out on Korea. Give an interview a try at any of the large schools. ECC, GEOS, JET, even WESTGATE. To be honest my contract is up for renewal and i have been tempted to jump on a flight and see what i can turn up. Good luck and remember it 's only 4 months Miles. At the end is a flight and a bonus. That's gotta be worth it right. |

Japan: Clean and logical but also cold and indifferent. Not once did I smell urine, vomit, industrial pollution or see someone passed out.
South Korea: Dirty and disorganized in places but somewhat friendlier.
As for quality of foreigners? The same. Good and bad depending on the situation. |

Totally different. Many here are making money. Many who go to Japan, go there for Japan (for good or bad). |

Why don't you move out of Ulsan if you hate it that much, so you quit making such redundant or irrelevant posts? |

depends on YOU, but the short of it is:
Japan: better shopping, girls, working conditions, style, manners
Korea: better income, food, living cost. and PLENTY of churches (you'll see what i mean).
my plan is just to work in korea to get experience and a money cushion, then I can ensure that the following year I do a good job in Japan and have money to buy flashy clothes and dental work for whatever japanese girl i end up with.
most important thing anywhere you go is to find a solid set of friends. good friends can make hell bearable. |
