Danish slang is very harsh, but standard Danish - if you switch on the news - is scarily similar in sound to standard British English.
My dear friends, is this not the highest felicity? How English, despite being 50% Norman French, has retained its Anglo-saxon pronunciation?
It's so fabulous. England, a melting pot of northern Europe - and the United States, a melting pot of the world (though chiefly, in order, the Germans, the Irish and the English). Don't these facts make you tingle with awe, pride and contentment? |

Oh the insular nature. Nothing bad ever happens. Very nice nationalism though. Which I've always found interesting because the Scandinavians have historically been such an aggressive blood thirsty bunch.
I've always wanted to go up to Iceland, think the idea of it never getting dark in the summer must be......weird. My friend went and his photos were amazing. In Stockholm the best was dusk on Midsummer, it never quite got dark. Ahh, them was the days.
The strange thing with the language especially Danish is how guttural it is. The melody from Denmark is so up and down. The south of Sweden, Sk�ne area is very up and down but nowhere near as bad as Denmark, I found it difficult to understand Sk�ne folk sometimes. Then by the time you get to Lapland there is no melody, it's flat. Really should have done some more research and find out why because it's certainly very interesting. |
Danish is hideous. If I found a Danish girl like my avatar I would learn Danish fluently....barring that....  |

Haha! Agreed. Swedish men think that Norway has more beautiful women than Sweden, which really is something........
......but they also believe, and I can understand this, that listening to two Finnish women talking is very very sexy..........mmmmmmmmmm! Even if Finnish is one of the most ridiculously hard languages I've heard. Hyv�� joulua ja onnellista uutta vuotta
I also think Scandinavia with all their liberal ideas, is actually quite racist. This comes more from ignorance than anything else. You'll hear Swedes using the N-word without batting an eyelid, and from what I've heard Denmark is worse for this kind of regional racism. Still not everyone's perfect I s'pose. |

Of course you already know that Finnish isn't even technically a Scandinavian language at all. The language spoken in Helsinki is more closely related to Hungarian and Estonian than Swedish, unless you take into consideration Swedish loan words.

Depends on the pay.....Can I travel the rest of the region cheaply? Part of the reason I choose Korea is that I can explore/travel cheaply and easily.
Since it's near impossible for US folks to get EU jobs with tons of hoops and hurdles, I'd choose Norway given the oppurtunity would not likely come again.
I'd probaly choose Norway anyway though.....sounds pretty nice....how's the racism? I'm not arabic, but look somewhat like it. I heard it can be pretty bad in some parts of europe. |
