Things will definitely get nastier on the way to McCain's (can you elect dead people?) inauguration.

Wow, that's a long piece. I agree with some of it.

The electability argument either way is flimsy at best. In terms of experience I think they are pretty even. As to the baggage question, I plead no contest. Both likely have a good chance against McCain.

I honestly feel Obama has a better chance because he will be competitive in some of the states Hillary Clinton has written off from the beginning. Yes, she may campaign in those states a few times, but strategy wise she won't bother with them. Which states am I talking about: Wisconsin, South Carolina, Texas, North Dakota, Virginia to name a few. She'll probably take a crack at trying to win Colorado and Iowa, but may not have much luck. Even the Pacific NW may go for McCain if she is the nominee based on some of the latest polling (both Oregon and Washington have a large rural population).

Clinton argues that only SHE can win even the large blue states, which is not exactly correct. Obama will take California, New York, Illinois and Penn. He'll have to work his heart out to get Ohio and Michigan, but I believe he can. Florida will be the most difficult out of all the large states because there is a large population of older people.

In actual fact, a dead man did beat John Ashcroft in the 2000 Senate race in Missouri. But he's of that class, like the Bushmeister, that only fails upward, so he was rewarded with the national AG spot.

I made it exactly this far in the article before I stopped:

There was a time when this race looked like it might become the most uplifting in a generation. It's now threatening to become the most divisive and disturbing.

DRAMA ALERT!

Its the constant moralizing of the Obambites that disturbs me.

Barack, you won't be able to unite America. Nobody can. Why? Its not about what you do, but what your supporters are able to do.

Anyway, I don't know what I was thinking, clicking on a link to the 'Smirking Chimp.' The site's name screams: "We have no class."

I think it shows a lot of class. And a certain scientific curiosity as welll. Here are some more smirking chimps. [The one on the right is the chimp. The one on the left is an as-yet-unindicted war criminal/mass murderer/torturer. He has class, right Kuros? Very Happy Laughing Very Happy ]
