My internet doesn't work in my apartment anymore and I need some help signing up for one. Which is the fastest one and if I call will they just come and install it? What is an average cost per month for internet? Do they have a website in English? |

KT is the easiest (but not the cheapest).
Just dial 100 from a land phone. (it might also work from a cell too).
They have English phone service and http://www.kt.com/eng/pro/dome_internet.jsp?pageNum=2 for internet. |

For just run-of-the-mill cablemodem internet, the cheapest rates are often from your cable TV company. |

So what do you use? Or what would you suggest is fast? (really fast- Korean internet is suppose to be one of the fastest in the world). |

Megapass is KT and its pretty fast. They have a few tiers.
Megapass lite is the cheapest, then its Megapass Plus I think. And then there is one faster than that.
I think I paid around 35,000w for megapass lite. It is about 10 times faster than your typical cable modem back home.
I recently upgraded to megapass plus and for 4,000w more, I get a nice bump in speed. |

What you use depends on where you are.
If you are in a newer high rise building you probably have fiber optics to your floor and 100baseT from there to the wall.
If you are in an older walkup/villa then you probably only have 10baseT available.
There are other speeds as well.
If you are serious about downloading - REMEMBER - it is NOT just your speed that is important, but the speed of the person sending you the file as well as other data sharing the data link from the source to your node in Korea.
Speeds here are blistering between Korean sites but sometimes have significant lag between here and overseas.
Domestic ping times in the 5-15ms range are common.
Transpacific ping times in the range of 200-400ms are common as well. |

Yeah it is probably a 4 or 5 stories tall. It's an apartment building. It sort of looks like a studio apartment, One bedroom with a door , a bathroom, small kitchen and small common area (family room). Thanks for your help, Ttompatz. |

I'm looking to get cable TV and internet in my apartment, as well. I have a KT building, so I can get a really good internet connection--that's not the problem. I had a Korean friend call and ask about bundles with TV and Internet and they said they didn't have Cable TV, only Internet TV. Neither the woman with KT, nor my friend were able to explain this to me any better than that. Despite being asked "What do you mean internet TV, like cable tv that just uses a shared connection between the internet and tv?" (Because that's what we'd call Cable Internet in the states, right? Not the inverse "Internet TV") Both of the Koreans involved answered with an "I don't know."
So can anyone give any details to a KT Internet + TV bundle?
Also, I have a wireless router left over from my old apartment, and they said I wouldn't be able to use that. Huh? |

kt's iptv service (internet tv) is called megaTV. basically you're able to watch all the shows that are on 'traditional' cable TV, but its all coming down through the internet. there is no cable line. everything is also 'on demand', which means you watch what you want, when you want.
there are also a bunch of movies and other things you can watch through megatv. |
