Seriously.

Today seemed quite odd at work. The students seemed really hard to control. And one was being mimicky with a smart alec tone. And the chit chat.

Now I'm in a PC bang (won't be coming back to one of these dives in a couple of days - been lazy about getting the Net hooked up at my new place) and students in the non-smoking section are making retarded noises. It's annoying.

What's the deal?

I discovered some time ago that whenever the students have one day off a week, they go out of control all the other days of the week. Apparently the concept of "ONE day off" doesn't compute for them.

I was thinking that it must be about having a day off. Plus this week they also have special field trip days. Crappy thing about that is I signed a contract where in such cases I have to make up for it on a Saturday. And I'm also teaching a special class for no extra pay on Fridays. Asked if I "wouldn't mind" teaching it.

I'm getting pretty ticked off about some of these fkn attitudes. I might just take off from here next month. Can't give 'em notice because they'll charge me the rest of the year rent...

But it's Korean culture. Hmm. Life was much better at the hagwon, I'll tell ya. I want to ring someone's neck.

Welcome to my life. My teenage students are way beyond control and constantly call me names like pig, monkey and waygook seki...aka foreign bastard. My younger ones are hard to control as well..very loud...but they like me at least.

They wouldn't last long in my class. I get ticked off at the littlest of noise. If I hear a pencil or a page turning, I go absolutely insane.

Yeh, I need to get more strict on them. I gave one of the classes a new seating chart and the kids freaked out. Took me like 15 minutes to enforce it.

This is my first month at this job and it's just like starting over again as far as controlling the class goes. Gets on my nerves.

My kids were way worse than usual today too. I'm starting to think that Koreans really get affected more by seasonal changes. Maybe that's why there's so much 'four season' talk Smile
