I was told that if you can get one through the YWCA, it can be around 35,000won per 4hours. But you usually have to book far in advance to get one. The good thing is they have special training for infant childcare and first aid. And they clean house as well as do childcare. They start when your child is around 6 months old.
I am having a woman come for postpartum care and infant care, she is 500,000 per week, Mon-Fri 9-5, Sat 9-2. Additional time is 5,000/hr. Had to book her over a month before my due date and she can only work a max of 4 weeks. But huge load off our shoulders!
Oops! shoulda mentioned a Korean friend made the arrangements for us through the YWCA and mentioned if we were in Gangnam it would be double. So your residential area may influence the rate! We're in Bucheon. |

How many hours a day is that. Is she Korean or other. Is that a live in nanny? |

The 500,000 per week is post-partum mother and newborn care. This means she takes care of me and my newborn, for the first 2-4 weeks after delivery in the comfort of our own home. There is a big difference between nannying and postpartum care. She will help me with breasfeeding, diapering, bathing, and the many things a woman has to take care of after the baby arrives(TMI for Dave's). Plus she will cook healthy meals and clean the house allowing me and baby time to rest and bond.This is far cheaper than the hospital's aftercare which was closer to 1,000,000won for 1 week.
As for the nannying cost for older children, I mentioned that it was 35,000won per 4 hours. So depending on how many hours you needed her.
And yes, I'm 3 weeks away from my due date. He could come anytime now and I'd be happy. He already is weighing in at 3kg(7lbs)!!
