paying for bottled water.
another one of the major preposterous marketing frauds and hauxes perpetrated on the dumbed down developed world populace. |

I don't drink the (municiple) water from the faucet in my house.
I get my drinking water from a nearby well.
I drink beer with meals. |

The water out of the faucet may be clean, but I think it has a lot of heavy metals. Boiling water will kill off bacteria but will do nothing about the metals in the water.
Plus faucet water doesn't taste right. |

I fill water bottles up at work. If I'm not lazy.
I think one of the most annoying daily expenses here is figuring out what to buy to drink at home every day. |

I fill water bottles aat the gym, not work.
It's a price of business for the gym-as much as I hated paying onerous taxes back in Canada, I cannot reconcile with my conscience filling my water at Korean taxpayer expense. |

ok so I get the metallic water out of facet, etc.
but what's the difference then if you're filling up water at work or at the gym?
where does that water come from? big water bottles? filtrated water, etc?
in Latin American I was fortunate to live with a family that had a water filter, so I had ice cold water in the frig all the time and it was delicious.
of course that was in a somewhat tropical climate (which I miss) |

You can buy a big jug o' water for less than W1000. I've seen big jugs for less than W500, but I can't testify that the filtering process is any good.
Anyone remember the Coca-Cola fiasco, where Coca-Cola's bottled water brand manufacturing plants were just a sham and they were just filtering tap water? It was in England. The name of the brand escapes me, but you can't get it in Korea anyway. |

korean tap water contains high levels of heavy metals, toxins, pesticides etc.
you could get a cancer etc from exposure to it...same as the air here..
might be 20yrs before you realise the damage
its a gamble.
really you shouldnt even shower in it in case it gets in your eyes.
nasty stuff.

| Get a water filter. It is cheaper than bottled, and you control the quality. |

I'm not too worried about the water here. I use bottled water for drinking in coffee, soups and as drinking water. But I use the tap water to cook rice, pasta, potatoes etc. I'm sure you can never be too sure about the water you get in restaurants and school but I drink it anyway. What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger, right? |

| I try to drink the filtered water from the school as much as I can but if i'm at home, I have bottled water... from the 5L bottle I filled with tap water, I'm not that picky. sometimes I still drink bottled water because I check the color of the water before consumption. anything seem off just a little, I boil or drink something else. no biggy. |

That water should be coming from a machine that filters out the bad stuff from the water. However, those water filters need to be properly maintenance and the filters cleaned/changed.
On the sides of the big school water filters, there should be a checklist on the side that shows the dates that the machine was serviced. A lot of homes have water filtration devices hooked up to their kitchen sink.
Drinking the tap water here a few times won't do anything However, if you drink it every single say then I'm sure you are going to run into some sort of health problem in the decades ahead.
Well, thats if the smog, bird flu, or all out nuclear war doesn't kill you first. |
