Same, same. I don't even think I've finished "blooming" yet.

I posted on this site for more than 5 years without indicating my age because I knew that if I did, some of the rum-dums would use it to attack me, rather than my point of view. At some point I decided that I couldn't any longer deny my life-experiences, so I stated my age. I was right. There is an enormous amount of ageism among the posters on this forum. It usually comes from people I don't respect anyway, but it is annoying.

I'm 58 and will turn 59 this summer. I don't mind my age (the alternative to getting older is to drop dead; not something I wish to do) but I don't like people making a negative point of it.

There are a startling number of people who expect me to live my life according to their rules, rather than mine. There is nothing I can do about that.

Well, I was twenty-three when I first lived in Korea twenty-four years ago...

Korean 30<---I hate saying that at this point. Not that I'm going to be one of those women that says they are 29 for four or five years.

I'll also be 29 in July. We should celebrate together.

hey I call people over 50 de facto geezers, but I'm a hell of a lot closer to that catastrophic age (where you wake up and no longer recognize yourself in the mirror) than most here and I suppose I'll prefer it to being dead as well. But I don't have to like it.

heads up for living your own life your own way

I never plan on "acting my age". I'll do that when I'm dead.

I find all comments about "age appropriate" whether in what I do or my dates to be insulting and my response is always to suggest that my interlocutor perform an anatomically impossible sex act.

I'll decide what's appropriate for me, not you nor society, thank you. (I realize this will make me a complete weirdo in Korean culture, but ask me if I care)

It's "inappropriate for me to have left the corporate world to teach ESL oveseas. I'm supposed to be starting the rest of my useless geezer life as a worker ant and start using Viagra and think of golf as a "sport" now.

I listen to the same music and like the same things my younger brother does (who's 17 years younger), so I always find the usual comments of "what can you talk about with people older/younger than you?" funny. I can talk with younger people about almost anything, it's actually harder to talk to older people, I can't relate, my interests are "youthful" - what are we going to talk about.. AARP benefits? (I suppose we can always talk politics)

my sister in law tried challenging me with that question. (as what can you talk about with my high schoolers? I said easy - the Fast and the Furious (the movie). She shut up, her rambunctious kids are captivated by that movie.

I'm just a lot smarter Smile

I never think about ages on this site. I just assume most of you are in your early-to-mid twenties, it's a real shock that there are folks in their late 30's or 40's here. Not that it's a bad thing, of course. I guess I thought the mean age of English teachers was closer to 25 than 35.

If you're early to mid 20s, you'd better be spending less time on here and more time having fun!
