But... but... now that they can no longer plausibly complain that socialized medicine is the thin end of the Communist wedge, where will they go from here?

Complaints about excessive government spending also tend to ring hollow in the wake of a $3 trillion war of choice. And yes, I do plan to bring up that price tag in debates with conservatives for the rest of my natural life.
