Hello. I have finished teaching at a company and I should recommend that you steer clear of them if you are offered work. Initially it sounds pretty good. The salary was 90,000 KRW per hour and I was teaching twice a week. The first month was pretty normal and I received payment. However, the first month's payment was calculated incorrectly (paid for 3 classes instead of 4) and I allowed the company a month to reimburse me the correct amount.

The second month's payment was late. So much so, I had to visit the company and meet with associated staff. I listened to promises and saw that they broke them. 10 days later, they decided to pay me and their excuse were, "We have been having problems since a change in the accounting department". Well, I hate excuses and told them to pay me now and I shall wait to get confirmation from the bank. About 20 mins later the money was deposited in my account.

Anyhow, twice I arrived for class only to find that the class was canceled and the staff member I was dealing with was slow to provide any info. I also had to commute 2 hours to the company as well as prepare. I didn't mind the drive but to waste my time is annoying. The staff that took classes were not the best students but they were happy to take the class.

I told the staff member that I didn't wish to continue working for them and I handed back all the material they gave to me 2 months ago. So all in all, I have had a pretty poor company to work for at the moment. The company in question is Shinsegae International and involves teaching the HQ Staff twice a week. I would highly recommend that you don't work for them, if you are approached to teach. I had to spend about 3 hours chasing up payment and the staff are pretty slow to respond via email or unable to receive your call.

I have moved on but this was just a warning for those that are considering working for Shinsegae International.

I used to tutor execs at a big name company when I was in grad school. Have the company pay for the month's lessons in advance. If they cancel without sufficient notice, they're billed for the class.

I have done company work for several years and have never had a problem with students attending or being paid late. I was paid if the students didn't show and there were a few times I think I was paid too much. 90k for 90 minutes twice a week. Easy money.

For those thinking about company classes, I fully endorse teaching them. Students that want to learn and no problems with cash flow.

It was good experience teaching my own material and improving my Business English teaching skills. I had a wide range of material, a projector connected to an internet ready PC, DVD Player (couldn't get it working though), and some speakers for listening work. There were some good tools for teaching but the students were incredibly busy and unable to attend. Out of nine students I would get 3 regular students and twice no one turned up. Easy money for 60 mins work but not really working.

Like I said it was good experience and I may request a set payment for the month before commencing classes but being an examiner as well it is difficult to keep to a set schedule as I have some exams each month.
