I was wondering if there was a master list of public schools here in Korea that could help make job searches easier.
I personally wanted to go outside of the recruiter and apply directly to schools in the specific city and dong that struck my fancy.
Does such a database exist? |

Not in English.
If you plan to do that, the best bet is to pound the pavement and pass out your bilingual resume and cover letter. |

I'm sure all of us can pool together and make an English list happen. |

You aren't going to land an SMOE job by going to the school itself. You need to apply to one of the recruiters, no matter how much you hate them, that are listed on the SMOE ETIS website.
Also, SMOE manages 1,200 schools. |

I know a guy near my gu that has been working for public schools for five years. He never uses a recruiter. He applies directly at the local education office.
They interview him, he does a presentation and then he gets the school he wants.... easy |

| In SMOE, they will direct you immediately to a recruiter. You used to be able to apply directly, but not anymore. This is the SMOE office, though. I would be surprised to hear SMOE is letting local offices do any hiring, they are very power hungry and are quick to say that hiring and rehiring is done through the SMOE office. |

I'm currently thinking about re-signing with Kyoungnam EPIK next year but their policy is no policy - teachers have no say in where they want to be placed.
I'm looking at Daegu high schools for my next contract or even a uni or two. I'm willing to offer my gratitude if anyone had any leads in the Daegu area. |
