I eat the live octi/ squid things at least once a week. Being alive ensures their freshness!
If you are a fan, be careful this time of year because, according to the wife, a lot of them are not actually from Korea, this time of year. She says they are mostly Chinese squid thingies which are not supposed to be good.
As for them feeling pain.....ummm, it's a squid...... |

I wouldn't be so sure about the pain thing.
I've read of an octopus who was trapped in a pool of water with nothing to eat for a few weeks. How did it survive? It ate three of its own tentacles.
Also some types can detach their arms at will when under attack. |

| You might be right, for all I know. The author of the article was sure she saw pain and terror, or some such thing. I maintain that they taste good, alive or not. |
