Every day I check in order to be aware of what the sky is like:
http://www.airkorea.or.kr/airkorea/eng/realtime/main.jsp?item=khai
Gargle with yellow (Original flavored) Listerine antiseptic about 4 or 5 times a day. After spitting it out, take a couple of deep breaths.
Go to the sauna and spend time in the Finnish (dry) sauna. Rub tiger balm, eucalyptus oil, peppermint, parrot ointment on your chest and neck. ~ whatever works.
Run a HEPA and/or air filter often~ especially at night when asleep. Place some ice in it to cool down your room temp. Clean the filter often. Get plenty of sleep.
Be aware of your anger. Express it in appropriate ways. Certain people believe that there is a corelation between anger and chest problems. (e.g.: bronchitis, etc.)
While eating, try not to discuss stressful topics. Enjoy your food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Keep your windows closed when the air is bad. Wear a mask if you have to. Wash your hands and splash your face often. If your eyes are feeling itchy, use eye drops. Open your windows when it rains. Walk around in the rain.
If your throat has lots of phlegm, try some "yong gak san" (Dragon Powder). The stuff works.
So, what do you all recommend? |

I stick a tampon up each nostril and tape a panty liner across my mouth. Yes, I get stared at, but I deflect attention with a great dancing monkey routine. After I've exhausted all attemps I lock myself in a hypobaric chamber and listen to Anthony Robbins cds. Best wishes. |

How about leaving the country, or if that's not an option relocating to the countryside? That all seems like a lot of work, and I bet you'd have better health just breathing normal air in the average US/Canadian/British suburb. |

I like to milk it for all it's worth and pretend to my colleagues that it's making me feel so ill that I have to go home early. Play that foreigner card, baby! |

Me, I get sinus infections every year, generally around the first day or two the dust hits...
Not this year, which I attribute to the generally mild dust we've seen, and the use of neti pot. Kind of gross the first time you use it, but you get over it. It's great - no sinus problems yet this year. |

I deal with yellow dust by only visiting the big cities on occasional weekends for shopping, special dinners, events, no more than two or three days a month.
Nice BLUE dot here in Hadong, western Gyeongsangnam province in the southeast of the peninsula.
It explains why many days I look up to blue skies when Seoulites complain about a yellow haze. |

Er.... I go jogging without a mask and sleep with my window open. Having smoked a couple hundred thousand cigarettes in my life has rendered my lungs impervious to pain! |

I find it surprising that some think yellow dust is a city thing.
Yellow dust comes from the Gobi Desert, and blankets much of NE Asia when it is blowing.
It is not industrial pollution, it is just sand, see the wikipedia for more

yeah but it's particulate, whether it's organic or not, it's still swirling in your membranes. |

I agree that it is not good, but many posting on this thread have opined that leaving the city, or not living in one is part of a "cure".

Wow, impressive. I blow my nose occasionally.
It's pretty windy around here and the dust never gets that bad. |

Four years in Korea I can only think of maybe one day that I was remotely bothered by yellow dust in Seoul. |
