Just by chance I've just come across something on KBS2 that has a bunch of bearded, dreadlocked Korean hippies drumming on bongo drums and driving around Korea.
They seem to live in a van with three kids. Pretty refreshing to see in contrast to the apartment buildings everywhere.
They even have raggeddy bearded waegookin friends too, with the prerequisite woolen hats and dodgy teeth.
It's nice to know there's a bit of variety here.

I have been feeling, for the last 6 months or so, that there will be more and more of them over the next decade, along with many other subculture groups.

| I watched that too. Funny thing is that that guy used to be an elementary school teacher and just got tired of it and decided to tour around Korea. I commented that there is no way that guy and his friends are not hitting the happy herb up and my wife just shook her head and laughed. They have been showing the guy and his life all week on that mini-series program they have on KBS2. Pretty interesting. |

I wish I'd seen it earlier in the week. For anyone interested the show is called 인간극장 (people theatre) and next week they have an elderly couple who live in a shack beside an isolated lake and spend their evenings teaching themselves to write in the candlelight.
It was good to see the two bearded hippyish foreigners on the show too. It just goes to show that you can meet some very interesting Koreans here as long as you make the effort. |

While the guy did seem well-intentioned I couldn't help laughing that he had sold his house and his plan was basically to drive around Korea for 5 years and do odd jobs....
The wife(who by the way was an elementary school teacher dropout as well) won't last 5 months.....
That show, 인간 극장(Cinema of people) has some funky characters...they even did one on a normal married English teacher about 2 years ago. |

They should move to New Zealand. We have some awesome housetrucks. |
