I don't get it. I really don't. Why don't you guys try out a different country like Japan, Vietnam (have never been but have heard many positive things), Argentina, Brazil, Poland or anywhere else!?
Why is it always, Canada sucks so I HAVE to work in Korea?
Are you all from Alberta/Manitoba/Saskatchewan? |

You know, the only good thing about your posts is that I get to see your avatar pic again...
basically, what I am trying to say to you, is that your random posts on Dave's exhaust me... |

Money. I was living in Berlin and broke. Now I have enough for my masters and in autumn I will heading to the UK to do that masters (but leaving Korea in summer thank Saturn).

Korea pays the best.
Korea does some mad advertising in Canada.
Koreans used to think Canadians were polite, well behaved, and a better option against Yanks. We're showing them otherwise. |

Well, if I had to do it again, I would perhaps go to Japan. Japan would be my first choice, in general, but it is expensive. Korea is nice in many ways, and it pays more, but it doesn't have a real government yet that is developed to handle services for foreigners. Latin America doesn't pay enough for someone with student loans. Europe is all right, but you need to have a EU passport in many cases to get a job, but some people do get nice jobs in Prague. |

To think everything I used to hear from Canadians was that Canada was the greatest country on earth, that it scored the highest on the U.N. living index, blah blah blah, and yet floods of Canadians were leaving their country every year, often to endure hakwon hell in Korea or elsewhere. |

Canada hasn't ranked at the top for a few years now, but that was an 'interesting' connection you made.
Canadians were flooding out of the country? really?
I guess our youth had no military machine to join. |

I love Canada, and really enjoy living and working in Korea, and have for six years. I will be going back to Canada in the Summer of 2009. I have worked at the same Academy for 6 years, and they have treated me excellently well. I met my Canadian wife here, and had a son born here. So, Korea has opened so many opportunities for me and my family.
And what difference does it make if people are from Alberta, Manitoba or Saskatchewan, or any province or territory for that matter. Canadians come here, because many have heard good things about Korea from friends that had come here. Many people actually really do enjoy their time here, but you won't see them posting on Dave's simply because angry or dissatisfied voices tend to be louder than happy and content voices. |

Well, no, actually it doesn't. It's a good start but there's more money to be had in Hong Kong and the Middle East. |

Sell out. Being in a place you hate for cash. Should have known. So with that in mind, will your posts leave with you? |

I'm here because I wanted to live in a different country. I thought about teaching in Japan, but Korea sounded interesting (for some odd reason). I don't regret being here at all. |
