I know that there are such individuals. Can anyone enlighten me about the circumstances behind such an occurence. Most presidents are asked to pardon certain individuals who have recieved such an indictment.

I understand that a (Black female) British M.P. is the daughter of a person who has been banned from ever returning to the U.S.A

Roman Polansky. Enough said. Then again, I don't think he'd want to enter the US again.

Polansky's not banned from the United States nor has he been kicked out of the country. He fled of his own volition. He's what's known as a fugitive from justice.

There are individuals who have been stripped of their US citizenship. Naturalized citizens who have concealed a material fact about their past, such as being a war criminal during World War II, have been de-naturalized and deported.

There are also individuals who have voluntarily gained citizenship in another country and at the same time renounced or relinquished their US citizenship voluntarily. Such individuals are not barred from entering the United States on that basis.

Hmmm... it was my understanding that you can't be denied entry to your country by your government.

You can't; however, there are cases where you may forfeit that citizenship and thus the country is no longer "yours."

the US is one of the only countries with the audacity to write in your passport "Losing one's citizenship does not exempt you from federal taxes."

"One of the only countries"? Oh, please. Rolling Eyes Probably every country in the world is going to tell you that you'll still owe whatever you did to them prior to renouncing your citizenship.

I read the passport quote as having it taken away, not renouncing....

There are different ways of losing it. One way is to relinquish it voluntarily. Another way is to have it stripped from you involuntarily.

What's so audacious about that?

I don't have Korean citizenship but I pay Korean taxes. When I was in the US (where I also don't have citizenship) I paid US taxes. I don't see what's audacious about that quote at all.. if someone owes taxes, then they owe taxes.

We recently banned Michael Jackson from ever returning. Then there's Madonna who is now officially british, as well as quite a few others.

That spice girl that married that American soccer guy (Beckham -i think he plays for LA) had to change her nationality from american to british and come back to the US on a tourist visa.

There are countless incidences.

Robert Holly, who's Gwangju International School had Christopher Paul Neil on its roster, is an example of an American who renounced his U.S. citizenship.

Care to get some real information about Victoria Beckham? The woman was born British in the UK, grew up in the UK, and is still a UK citizen.
