Trying To Conceive would be my guess.
Anyway, the CHA hospitals are famous for fertility treatments. In greater Seoul, they're located in Gangnam and Bundang, though I'm not sure if both of them specialize in that area. Further south, their Daegu Women's Hospital offers such services.

Our hospital has Infertility treatments I believe. It lists them on their website. It's located in Bucheon. Our doctor speaks excellent English as well.

Your insurance will cover a huge part of your infertility treatment in the ROK and is one of those "secrets" that Koreans don't want foreigners to know. This is one of those occasions where you will really get your "moneys worth" out of Korea. Play your med. card to the hilt and don't tell your employer as it's none of their biz.
This is also well known by wives in the US military who want to conceive.
Even, birthing is cheaper(2k in Korea) compared to 12k for normal birth/15k for c-section in the US not including final trimester drugs. |

you paid $2k for birthing in Korea? Wow, did they see you coming.
Average pre-natal costs are 500k won.
The baby's birth (mother and baby including nursery, hospital stay, private room, meds and western menu) run around 600k more.
A C-section (if required) is about 1mil. including the hospital stay for recovery.

Nope! That's the sum I got off a female friend so I assumed it was correct for Korea. Considering the price of baby production in the states, I wasn't about to quiz her(in hindsight should have).
The costs in the US however are spot-on. I'm still cringing at the bill.
Korea rocks when it comes to babies. |

Here's a quote from Seoul National University hospital:
Natural Birth = 500,000 won (includes 2 nights stay)
C-section = 1,000,000 won (I can't remember how many nights stay0
Room charge for extra days= 300,000 - 900,000 per night
Plus, they told me that there would be additional charges if there were complications.
Maybe your friend had to stay longer in hospital and/or had some complications.
Back on topic:
I know that Ewha women's hospital in Cheonan has an infertility specialist.
I'm guessing that most women's hospitals in Korea will have someone on staff who specializes in this area. |

As I mentioned before, CHA Hospitals are widely renowned for their fertility services. One of them is located in Bundang. Here's the direct link to their fertility services homepage (in Korean, alas): http://www.chaimc.co.kr/
Their international clinic is at their Kangnam hospital. Infertility is one of the specialty departments they list on their webpage. http://kangnam.chamc.co.kr/ic/default.asp |

Bundang cheil womans hospital also has a fertility clinic.
They are located kitty corner to the big Jaesaeng hospital and 1 block away from the big blue tower (Poonglim I-Won) by Seohyun station. |

Infertility treatment is covered by national health insurance, but you need to meet certain requirements before it can be approved. The requirements generally deal with the age of the couple and the length of time you have been trying to conceive. The specialist will be able to access if you meet these requirements.
The hospital where I work does have fertility treatments available, but I would recommend visiting some of the other speciality clinics mentioned above for treatment.
Best of Luck. |
