I want them to come and talk to me! I married a Korean mormon and converted her to the dark side. I can't wait to tell them, but haven't seen any around recently.

when they comea calling just tell them you've been 'defellowshipped'. This means you used to be a witness but you've now renounced your faith. acording to their religion they are not allowed to associate with you any more and will leave immediately. they'll also put a little black mark next to your name in their address book and they'll never bother you again, result!!!

1)I have to catch a bus...train...boat...zeplin. I just flee from them after that.
2)I scream Russian curses
3)I tell them I love the Pope and they should pray the rosary. Trying to convert them is funny.

The thing I like about that particular religion is their insistence on giving their deity a name, Jehovah / Yawweh. It brilliantly shows the absurdity of religion. If there is an entity in the universe that we can label as 'God' it doesn't have a name (or a gender, a kid, writes lousy books full of absurdities, etc.) When I talk to Christians now I always make a point of avoiding the word 'God' and instead talk about 'Yahweh'. If a religion's god has a name (Zeus, Odin, Baal, Yahweh, Krishna, etc), you know it's made up. Very Happy

Yahweh is not just a Jehovah witness thing. This is the same name God has in Christianity and Judaism, but it is very rarely spoken.

That is exactly my point. The Jewish god has a name just like all the other fictional deities that litter human history. Christians, however, seem to prefer using the generic term 'God' for their skygod. Jehovah's Witnesses don't hide behind that veil. They come right out and tell us that their supreme spaceman has a name just like all the Greek, Celtic, Roman, Egytptian, Aztec, Mayan, Babylonian and Sumerian gods. By being so honest they open themselves up to a great deal of mockery. I wish mainstream Christians would be honest. Very Happy

I like the idea of just staring at their boobs and trying to make them grow bigger. I'd probably start scratching myself at the same time or pressing my fingers against my temples.

Ever try to get recruited by the Catholics???

An old friend of mine (Korean guy) became a Catholic about 1.5 years ago. He's so into it - not the same guy anymore... He's so friggin' righteous that it's scary... Called me last night out of the blue to try and get me to start attending his church. Topped it off with "yeah, my church friends really want to meet you so they can practice their English!" Gee, thanks. How nice. Sign me up! Rolling Eyes I really liked this guy - but, I don't want to hang out with any judgemental Bible thumpers.

Funny thing about Catholics is, they're not 'bible thumpers' at all. Most Catholics have never opened the bible in their lives.....That's a good thing by the way.

Yup, my gf's older sister converted to Catholicism some time ago. I think she was non-practicing Buddhist before her conversion. Anyway, big sister is completely different person now than she was before... and I keep teasing her about it all the time! Smile

i had some come to my door every saturday for a month or so.
i answered the door the first time because i thought it was the mailman.

another time, a girl "caught" me and asked me to take a survey.
then she invited me to watch a movie on world peace. i was alone, i don't get many japanese people who want to chat up foreigners.
so, i went.
after the movie, this girl and her mentor had me in the place until like 1am (it was maybe 9:30pm when i got there) trying to convince me to join their group for a yearly payment of 30,000yen-70,000yen.

you won't get people to join your religion if you keep going to their homes or you try to trap them...

One odd thing about religious people is their belief that the Hebrew scriptures are actually worthy of a supreme deity. Lots of 'begats this', 'begats that' and instructions on how to butcher neighbouring tribes. Yup, must have been written by the creator of the universe. Rolling Eyes

When I was 19 I had a friend who was writing a paper on modern religious movements, one of them being the Johos. For his paper he decided to visit a Kingdom Hall one Sunday morning and asked me if I wanted to come along. We couldn't have been more out of place if we had tried - me with hair almost down to my ass in an old jean jacket and him in an Adidas track suit. Well, they obviously don't get many uninvited visitors. Afterwards they were literally lining up to talk to us. You can imagine how they feel after a futile week of being told to piss off at countless doorsteps, now finding a couple of curious pagans showing up their hall.

It was about the most pathetic service I've ever seen, too. What a bunch of reformed down-and-outers.

The missionary is always a woman with good english.

She's usually good looking.

The JW's I've encountered over the years, most have been men. They've always been polite and buggered off without word when I told them I'm not interested.

Can't say the same for the Church of God'ers and the fake Mormon "missionary" that banged on my door weekly. Although, I must say the CoG has some slammin' cultists. The Raelians, too. Have to try more trials of the above theory when they come a'knockin' again.
