I am from the US and getting married to a Filipina in the Philippines and bringing her from the Philippines to Korea. If anyone is a foreigner guy married to a Filipina girl, can you tell me anything about healthcare, birth, marriage life, jobs for educated Filipina, schools for children, but most importantly for right now anything about the visa process (including time estimates and possible/probable problems)?

I think this response is sarcastic. I only mentioned that my Filipina partner is educated because I am interested in knowing about jobs for her.. as well as about the other things I listed here. But because of that reply..I have made edit to make myself not to offend. Again, can anyone tell me about these things? |

The best thing for her would be to teach privates. The Koreans view the Filipinas as generally good for 1 of two professions:
1. Hooker
2. Low paid factory worker
Also don't be suprised if you run into some headaches in the application process. My wife is Filipina and she is with me now and we are coming back to Korea next month. We have been informed by our local Korean embassy that there are no problems, but I have heard of some people who were not with their wives trying to get them VISAs from the Philippines who had some difficulty. Research itin advance and call your local consulate. |

Until they change the rules, she will NOT legally be allowed to work (except as a factory worker) and that will require a change in her status of sojourn. 1st things 1st. Get her here as a dependent spouse.
Get her passport BEFORE you get married. It will be easier and less painless.
Getting an F3 (dependant family visa) is pretty painless and takes about 4-6 weeks from marriage to arrival. Most of that time will be waiting for documents from the Philippine government (NSO) or sending documents back and forth. Actually processing of the forms takes only a week or 2.
1) get married - you are aware that there is a (minimum) 10 day delay between the application for the wedding license and the wedding ceremony (in the Philippines). Don't use a fixer to speed the process or you will have BIG problems when you try to get her back to your home country (document dates won't match passport stamps).
2) wait for the certified copy of the wedding certificate from the NSO.
3) she needs to get her CFO certificate placed into her passport BEFORE Philippine customs and immigration service will allow her to leave the country. http://www.cfo.gov.ph/counseling.htm (this can be done in Cebu or Manila).
4) when you get the wedding certificate you can apply HERE for her confirmation of visa issuance (the blue letter or visa confirmation number). To obtain it take:
-the NSO certified wedding certificate AND a copy,
-a copy of the information page of HER passport,
-your passport and a copy (information pages),
-your ARC and a copy (front and back)
to the immigration office here and apply for the confirmation of visa issuance number. This takes about 4-7 days.
5) Send her the number (or blue paper). 1-7 days.
6) she goes to the Korean embassy in Manila and gets her visa. 4-7 days
7) she gets on a plane to come here.
 you meet her at the airport.
I think I covered it without forgetting anything.

I called today and the Korean Immigration counselor swore up and down filipinas cannot get a visa issuance number and have to do everything in Korea.
I really think they are just idiots and don't know their own laws though. F*ing Korea.
Can I use a copy of the certified Marraige Cert and she bring the real one to the Korean embassy? I have a certified copy but not from the NSO. She just got the NSO certified one, does she have to mail it to me or can I scan and print for now? |

Process AFTER you are married:
1) YOU go to the immigration office.
2) you take:
YOUR ARC
Your passport
certificate of employment (from your employer)
COPY / printed scan of HER passport information page
NSO certified copy of the wedding certificate on security paper to show AND a photo copy to leave at immigration.
3) You apply for the visa confirmation number
4) you wait about a week for the number (or blue paper).
5) you send the number (or blue paper) to your wife.
6) she goes to the Korean Embassy in Makati
7) she takes her:
passport with CFO certificate
visa issuance number (or blue paper if you got one)
fill in an application and pay the fee (~p2500).
she returns to the embassy in about 4 days to pick up her passport
9) she flies to Seoul.
By the numbers, easy as you please. Takes about 3 weeks from your application for the confirmation of visa issuance until till she gets off the plane.
