|
|
We are off to Australia on the 4th of May and we will have a son with us who has both an Australian and Korean passport.
We want to take our son into Australia using his Aussie passport and bring him back into Korea using his Korean passport as it would be quicker getting through the queues this way and we can get him away from the crwods if he's not in a good mood (he's 5 months old).
If anyone has experience with this or know for sure your help/advice will be appreciated |

YOU CAN use them as you propose. Just remember to use the correct one when you EXIT the country as well.
That may seem cryptic so let me explain.
When he leaves Australia he may need to show his Aussie passport at the boarding counter BUT he may have to prove citizenship or residence in Korea to get the boarding pass for the return trip to Korea.
If your son enters Korea on his Korean passport (on the way back here) there will be no record of his entering here on the Australian one. When he leaves Korea again he will have to use the Korean one to leave here next time since he has no status of sojourn on his Aussie one.
In regards to immigration at the airport, if at least one of the parents is Korean (traveling on a Korean passport) AND you are traveling together as a family you can use the Korean immigration line for the whole family (or the foreigner's one) whichever has the smallest line.
I have always presented my family's passports and went through together at immigration and have never had a problem (and we have cleared in and out more times than I can count).

Yeah, well, I did just that two months ago and we were told that we shouldn't but it was ok for that time since we had babies with us. |

A friend would do this with her Canadian and Taiwanese passport. The problem comes in when returning to say, Canada. Your Canadian passport has no stamp on it showing you've actually gone some place. It appears you've just been flying in circles around the ocean and then returned to Canada. |

I do believe they don't care because I once got my passport wet and didn't notice the signature was gone. The immigration officers didn't notice either: I left Korea and entered Canada without having anyone mentioning anything about my missing signature.
Then, about having no stamp, when I go back from Canada in February, I don't remember why I wanted to take a look at my stamps but anyway, I didn't get any from Canada. |
