Not gonna happen since Hillary is running campaign ads slinging Obama's name through the mud. If he wins the nomination, McCain will do the same thing. |
It would be quite easy to potray McCain as a heroic survivor of a horrible detention, a brave and honorable man who unfortunately has fallen victim to a racist mindset as a result of his ordeal, blah blah blah
It writes itself. |
I think this whole thing speaks to the twattiness and cuntacity of Hillary Clinton. She's going to make sure that if she isn't the next president, no Democrat will be. McCain won't have to get dirty at all. He'll be able to slide right through and let the Clinton's do it all for him. |
Sorry, that's 100% bullshit.
Clinton has said that the party will be united in the Fall. I understand that you think Obama should get a free pass, but blaming Clinton for stupid things Obama says is idiotic. |

I'll vote for Obama even if she doesn't endorse him.
But I think the sexism in Plig's post is despicable. Can he find a non-vagina related word to express his displeasure? Apparently not. |

Not to mention that those are two of the ugliest words in the English language, and writing them is the equivalent of linking to goatse. |

Why Obama's statements are (factually) wrong
| Quote: |
| [W]orking-class whites were far less likely than upper-class whites to abandon the Democrats over the abortion issue. Only 57 percent working-class whites opposed to abortion identified with the GOP, compared with 92 percent of upper-class whites opposed to abortion. Abramowitz and Teixeira also lean toward the DLC and away from [Thomas] Frank on the question of whether economic populism can save the Democrats, mainly because working-class Americans, like Americans as a whole, tend to harbor unrealistically grim notions about how bad life is for everyone else while simultaneously harboring unrealistically sunny notions about how good life is for themselves ... "The white working class today is an aspirational class," they write, "not a downtrodden one." In promoting economic security, they conclude, Democrats would do best to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, and don't mess with Mr. In-Between. |

What if Obama were to say something along the lines of...
Low income people have more in common with each other, regardless of color, than they have in common with upper income people of the same race. I don't understand where the disconnect is in the understanding of race in the US.
Would he get beaten up for that? It would seem to be true, as does Obama's statement about 'bitterness'.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kuros, the above article seems to be worse that what Obama said, essentially arguing that poor whites are in the 'ignorance is bliss' category in terms of understanding their standing. C'mon, isn't that just as insulting?
I'm not as much an Obama faithful as others on this board, and that's why I've stayed out of this discussion for the most part. He's the best of the current choices, and the best in my voting lifetime, but is the capable of really changing things? I'm not sure, but I trust him more than the other two.
Having said that it seems the 'MSM' has turned on Obama. Apart from Matthew's interview, which had some good and some bad moments, he seems to be getting beaten up on much more than Clinton. Some of that is the Clinton campaign playing 'politics' as some on here like to say, though it seems nasty to me as Obama's camp isn't beating the sniper things like a gong. But it seems like a good bit is blowback from the media itself. Maybe the shine wore off? Maybe they just want to keep the race going because of the record viewership for certain cable news programs and the general atmosphere of excitement for people who cover politics. I'm not sure, but I hope there's not some loophole for the Olympics that allows it to go on forever, because I'm sure those guys will do the same thing. |

Oh, please.
a) She is a woman.
b) She is acting twatty.
c) She's acting quite cunty.
d) She's ensureing that John McCain will be the next president. If that makes me a little angry, I don't give a damn.
Kuros, do you work for Clinton? I only ask because your gift for avoiding the truth of a person's words and misdirecting people to be angry at the words themselves is astounding. I'm sexist?!?! Next, I'll be elitist!
You say you'd vote for Obama, but all you've shown us over the past few months is contempt for him and a constant desire to bury him. Let's not bullshit. You don't like Obama. Do I call you a racist?
Get off your high horse and quit trying to play Dave's Karl Rove. |

When I drop the N-bomb you can call me racist.
Are you really this obtuse? You used the words *beep* and c*nt to refer to Hillary Clinton. I suppose she's been called a bitch and a *beep* so much on this forum that its lost any of its potency.
M-Dave manages to show the whole spectrum of contempt for Hillary without touching any of these four words. But, if you're older the age of 13 and haven't figured out these words are problematic with relation to women, nobody is going to be able to help you now.
As for d), it makes no sense. Hillary attacking Obama is not the problem. Obama said what he said.

Huh? The article says that 57% of working class vote GOP and oppose abortion, whereas 92% of the upper class vote GOP and oppose abortion. This suggests that if the Democrats are the party best representing the working classes, then the working class is paying attention.
BTW, Obama calling people bitter is not the problem here. The problem here is he accused working-class people of voting against their interests. Well, the above article is prime evidence that he's factually wrong, and that even though working-class people may sympathize on the GOP's cultural platform, they still break Democrat.

I get it, Kuros. It's what the implied meaning of my post was, it's the words I used to get there. It's not the factuality of my post, it's the way you can turn it to attack the poster. I see.
How very Clintonian of you. |

No. I addressed what little substance there was to your post in my first response:

See, you're complaining that Hillary is making this bad for Obama despite the facts that:
a) the Media latched onto this before Clinton started stumping on it
b) there's no evidence to show that Clinton's very remarks on the subject are helping McCain
c) OBAMA ACTUALLY SAID WHAT HE SAID
I didn't even address your sexism until my second response. |

I never blamed Clinton for the things Obama said. I blamed Clinton for ensuring that everyone in the world knew what the most negative possible interpretation of those words were. She's running ads in NC and PA about it with "real people" (actors) talking about how horrible it made them feel. Yeah, real unity there.
Face it. Hillary is alienating those fence-riding voters that are going to be crucially needed for a Democratic win in those states. She's telling them that the potential Democratic candidate "looks down on them." It's petty mudslinging at its finest.
Fact is, Hillary knew the only way she could beat Obama was to bring him down to her level: despised.
| Kuros wrote: |

Right. The Huffington Post blogged on it. The "media" didn't pick up on it until Hillary started using it to mudsling.
| Kuros wrote: |

Really? Do you really think McCain is going to soil himself when he has Hillary doing it for him? How can this not be helping McCain? I've always considered you a friend on Dave's, so I hope that you are only feigning this ignorance.
| Kuros wrote: |

Of course he did, because it's the truth. Funny that when Bill said nearly the same thing when he was running for president it wasn't elitist. Strange how that works.
Kuros, I can appreciate the fact that you are pulling for Hillary. But, let's take this for what it really is. Don't grandstand and say I'm a sexist because I made up two words and used them to describe Hillary. Don't paint Hillary as innocent when she is the main protagonist of these outlandish claims against Obama. Don't feign ignorance in order to support your argument because it makes you look ignorant. You're better than that. |
