I want to buy a new pre paid "card" cell phone from the net (g-market) but I'm having trouble w/ the language barrier. I want to buy either of these two phones (advice on which is better would be helpful as well) SPH-W2900 or SPH-W3300. I'd prefer KTF service. Can someone in the know w/ a K-wife or someone to help please advice me and give me a link on g-market for one of these phones? How much will it cost etc...Actually, it would be easier just to buy the phone and I could take it to my local shop for the service. I just can't understand w/ all the different prices and plan offers for these phones.
much gratitude in advance for help on this.

I have a 'used' SPH-W2900 in really good condition if you are interested.
The reason I am not using it, is when I changed my over to pre-paid (my contract was in my old directors name) the very unhelpful, non-english speaking people at the "show" store wouldn't let me get prepaid on this phone. Their reasons sounded like a ton of BS, but you never really know.
However, if you are willing to give it a shot (or take this is a warning not to get this phone), mine's for sale and ill give you a good deal. |

On another note...is it possible for a phone to be denied service? Someone here read my post and offered to sell me their SPH-W2900 but the person said that when he tried to put prepaid service on it he was denied and had to buy another phone. I think he bought the original phone on contract w/ help from his boss but left his job and canceled his service (or his boss did) before the end of contract. He had monthly service but guess it was canceled and tried to put prepaid on and was denied. Maybe the store was trying to get him to buy a new phone. Anyone know anything about this? If I try will I be denied service? |

Spliff, a couple of years ago, I used KTF's prepaid service. If possible, I would recommend you get a monthly contract. Prepaid calls are more expensive and you have to top up the phone every so often, regardless of whether or not you have used all the money.
Something you might want to consider is that if you go from prepaid to monthly contract, you will have to change your phone number - at least I had to.
I don't think they can refuse for a phone to be serviced. It would only be the individual who would be refused.
For reasonably cheap phones and decent deals, shop near the universities.
I think KTF has an English phone service that you can call. |

The phones for my wife and she only uses it to call home using an inter call card. If i top it up w/ 30,000 it'll last for three months and that's easier and cheaper. Anyhow, isn't it a hassle for a foreigner to get regular service? My phone has it but my school gave it to me. Thanks for the input! |

Get a monthly plan with KTF. 30,000 activation fee. Price of the phone varies. Montly fee of roughy 15,000. Not a bad deal.
It's not a hassle for foreigners. It's a hassle for the customer service rep at the store because they don't speak English. Bring a dictionary and a calculator with you as well as your ARC card.
If you already have a phone, and they question you on this, tell them that the phone you already have belongs to your boss and he is letting you use it until you get your own. That's what I did. The man at the counter was very patient with me. I have my own phone now.
