can anyone please advise,
will customs alert immigration to cancel my E2 visa if they decide to go thru my luggage and find my prescription medicine?
am wondering whether customs have systems in place to alert E2 immigration officials for prescriptions that are legal to bring into Korea but would make me ineligible for E2 visa...(its only a minor illness not a major illness)

What "minor illness" would make a person illegal for an E2 visa?
I would personally be more worried if you have not disclosed it on the self health check and it is picked up on the health check after you arrive. Which will equal cancellation of visa. Minor things will not stop you from getting the E2 visa - but lying about it can lead to it being cancelled if picked up later.
As long as you disclose that you are carrying prescription medication on the customs declaration and have a doctors letter or prescription to back up the fact they are for personal use you should not have any problems getting through customs. They may or may not choose to inspect them. You also need to be aware if you are carrying them in your carry on luggage that you will need to show them as part of the "no liquids or gels" process. But as long as you can prove they are for personal use - and have them in original boxes etc you should have no problems.

I promise you if and when customs inspectors go thru your luggage it's not prescription medication they are looking for -
you are quite paranoid 
just carry the doctor's number, name, pharmacy, etc. with you in your wallet.
and if this medication is REALLY important - certainly you shouldn't check your bag but put it in your carryon - I do - I've carried migraine meds with me around the world, always in my carryon because I'd be totally screwed if I came down with a migraine and didn't have access to the proper medication. |
