Anyone know if I can get a 2 month tourist visa for Thailand via mail or must I go to embassy in person?
Plan on staying several months so 30 day visa on arrival isn't enough....think you can only get 3 in a row within 6 month period.
I assume most people get their travel agent to sort it out but I didn't use an agent to buy ticket.
Thanks, |

I got a 60 day visa to Thailand last year on my American passport at the Thai Embassy in Seoul, near Itaewon. It was easy. Just bring your passport and a couple passport photos. I remember paying 40,000 won. You just have to fill out the form and come back in a couple days to pick up your stamped passport. Once in Thailand you can extend for 30 days without leaving. |

if you are going to thailand for less than 30 days and have proof of an airline ticket out within that period then you do not need a visa....at least for majority of western countries.
if you are staying for more than 30 days then it is best to get a tourist visa (single or multiple).
...although still possible to get 2 more 30 day visa exemption things by crossing the border....but again need proof of an outbound flight within the 30 day period....requiring you to change your flight and pay fees. |

But, if you plan on staying more than 30 days it's a good idea otherwise you have to leave Thailand and come back. |

OK here is how to do it.
Don't bother going to the embassy here if it's too much hassle. Just fly to Thailand and you will get a 30 day VOA(visa on arrival) automatically.
When that expires you will need to go to say Laos or Cambodia to get another visa. You simply walk across the border and walk into Thailand. Another 30 days. Or stay one night and get your 60 day tourist visa in the consulate in Laos or Cambodia.
If you get your 60 day tourist visa here you will have to do the above anyways and you can only get 30 days then. |

Expensive advice and wrong about Cambodia
Crossing into Laos costs 3000B at the border or 1600 at a consulate
Crossing into Cambodia means going to a dirt bowl shit pile casino place full of robbing street orphans.
THERE is NO consulate at the Aranyapratet border crossing. Closest consulate is a days travel on shite roads in land
Cheap though 1000B plus cost of bus fare |

yes, getting visa at seoul embassy is annoying but i was planning on getting a multiple entry tourist visa to save headaches in thai....stay at least 4 months so can't survive on the 3 x 30 day visas.
problem is i'll be in southern thai and laos / cambodia too far. don't know how true it is but have heard that thai consulate in penang doesn't like to give out tourist visas anymore....anyone can confirm ?????
if i get a tourist visa with 2 entries then i can stay 6 months with little trouble. |
