Can someone give me an invite to this site? I'd like to get access to the teaching materials. Please send me a PM if you have an invite available. Thanks |

That site is restricted to SMOE NSETs. It's privately run, not authorized by SMOE and the admins and users don't want non-SMOEs on it. Nothing personal. |

And don't suggest making any changes to the system or you'll be banned! |

This was brought to my attention today. I am one of the Mod's for smoeworld.
What I can tell you is that you must be employed directly by Seoul Metopolitan Office of Education. And that a current member of smoeworld must invite you to become a member.
It's not my site but there are no if's or but's. Even if you work for a school in Seoul but employed directly by the school, you are not eligable to become a member.
There are reasons for this which I won't go into here but the owner/designer of the site has designated to be that way so all members must follow.
Hope this has been of help to you. |

I get asked this question a lot....
I'll just add the comment that I was emailed about "buying" the site. to which I replied, "why would anyone pay?".
I can't understand how anyone would use the content that users provide as a "business" model nor have any dedication to the network or loyalty to those who provide content/conversation/ideas. I once provided loads of content there and now stay clear. My 5 cents worth.

Sounds like education is the number one priority there... |

Who? SMOE or the teachers on the unofficial SMOE site?
SMOE has a website, but it lacks anything more than periodic announcements.
The teachers who use the site deal with issues specific to SMOE and SMOE schools. They share ideas and materials that are common to SMOE school agendas. In that respect, the teachers do have education as a number one priority.
xCustomx, I'd like to add that SMOE teachers aren't being stuck up by having a private site. If you have a specific book you use or materials you think people in SMOE use, post a request on this forum or PM one of the SMOE teachers. You can PM me, I'll help you out if I have what you are looking for.

I'm glad it's not just me!
Seriously though. Ddeubel's site has great resourses and has content created by teachers themselves not someone who quit his SMOE job after a few months but refuses to use the site for the greater good. |

How typical of hagwon riff-raff that they cannot read. SMOEworld is a message board specifically, and solely, for NSETs who work for SMOE. If you cannot satisfy this requirement, you can't join. And with good reason. We don't want hagwon riff-raff. Materials? Oh jesus, make your own. Or buy some books if you're really that stuck for ideas. |

DDeubel's site is awesome but it is a victim of its own success. You don't know how many times I've tried to access and the site is down or running slow.
It is inevitable because Dave is doing his best to keep the site free and open to anyone.
It would be nice if some organization noticed what Dave was doing and gave him grants to pay for dedicated server/bandwidth. The site is helping teachers all over the world, I don't see why some philanthropist with too much money can't throw Dave a few grand each year to make sure the site runs fast/stable. |

I think it's weird that you don't get the option to register for this SMOE World website when you join SMOE...because I work for SMOE and don't know anyone who is part of it, so I haven't requested to join. |

It's not a part of SMOE, it's privately run, and the SMOE admins don't like the site. |
