I've just recently given my 6 weeks notice at my hagwon. It went over well with the my boss, although she did ask me if I knew anyone who could replace me. I told her that I don't know of anyone who is looking for a job right now, but would let her know if I do find someone. The potentially troublesome area is that I've been offered a job at another school that wants me to start hopefully within a 6-8 week period. I'm not so sure with the new visa regulations in place now that I or my school will be able to find a replacement, and have them start working within that time frame. Any advice? |

that's their responsibility - not yours.
take care of yourself - they aren't going to do it for you - ok?
they look out for No. 1 so should you. |

Just simply tell her that you don't "know" anybody who is able to replace you. Then, ask her why she considers it's your responsibility to help find a new teacher for her since it's not written in the contract? |

If its a good job that pays on time and upholds the contract, ask your friends if they know anyone who is interested. If not, don't. |

I agree with the previous poster. However, I see a serious pitfall. If the hakwon doesn't get a new person in time because once the OP agrees to help, then the school will likely hold the OP responsible. The school will likely stop looking on their own (saving recruiter fees) and assume that the OP will take care of it. A big mistake on their part for sure....but then again, are they really going to blame themselves for their own problem? |

Thanks for the advice. I agree with all of you that finding a new teacher is not my responsibility, but I assume that If I try, then maybe that will give the boss more incentive to give me a letter of release. However, they don't need to be too cheap, as I've already told them that I will give them back the flight money, as stipulated in my contract. |
